  1. I was talking about dogfish, not eels. Dogs aren't sport fish but congers most definitely are in my opinion.
  2. You need to re-read my posts Jon. πŸ€“ I never said they were good to catch, rather that they are welcome as a blank beater and that I have a soft spot for them. Sport fish they are not, but I still appreciate them.
  3. Well, I think they're great.
  4. With the weather on the south coast too breezy for comfort on the boat, @Saintly Fish and I hatched a plan to chase rays and hounds from the shore in the Solent. So last night we hit the shingle, complete with Leo and Holly the Wonder Dog. As the sun set we were full of anticipation for a busy night's dangling. Before long darkness fell and this became our view for the rest of the session... Static rods untroubled by fish... 😭. The early weed gave way to a few tentative rattles that failed to materialize into fish on the shingle. With the chill creeping up on us we called it quits just after 11pm and headed for home with our tails between our legs. What a pair of blankers... πŸ˜₯
  5. Looking at this for a second time... have to say I'm a bit jealous! πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  6. The answer is simple. Get a Samsung phone πŸ˜‰πŸ‘
  7. Anything from Samsung works really well. I can pair them with my phone and use it to control the TV, and I often cast things from my phone onto the TV so that everyone can view it easily instead of crowding round the phone.
  8. That's a biggie! Well done πŸ‘
  9. Yes. Have two new ones waiting in the wings plus torque wrench plus length of scaffold tube for the required leverage.
  10. Is it a Route, rather than a track? I'm just guessing here. Take a look in the Routes list to see if it's there.
  11. Also got the new switch panel fitted and wired up. @jonnyswamp, mine does the same thing as yours - no auto-retract but a little motor actuation. I reckon I need to wire the orange wire into the ignition start wire (it's direct to +ve at present). I have a feeling the auto-retract will work as intended when the orange wire senses no current but the switch panel does.
  12. Needs a good polish. Maybe you could come over and do it?
  13. Well, the old motor still works. Rams have seen better days though. There's a chunky nick out of this one, which may be how the water got in (past the two ram o-rings). I'll run it for the rest of the season and look to change it over the winter.
  14. Well done @GPSguru. Looks like your suggestion of the brake coupling was correct. I removed the coupling assembly then lo and behold... I'll take the coupling assembly home to free off on the bench but it may need a replacement damper.
  15. @Plaicehunter is in that area if I remember correctly.
  16. To, two, too. #justsaying πŸ˜‰
  17. Ah, I miss my air rifles. Sold my Air Arms S400 a while back to a good friend and put the money into a shark reel... what can I say? They're just bigger dogfish πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸΆπŸŸ
  18. Yep, got Gun Oil, which is a posh version of 3-in-1.
  19. Hoping to refit the actuator tomorrow afternoon. I know you're all on tenterhooks waiting for an update so stand by... I'll even post up pics for @JonC
  20. Definitely got vaccine envy. All you lot are already jabbed!
  21. Careful what you wish for 🀣 In all seriousness, Neil has some goodies for you so I'll let him do the reveal but I will say thanks to you Tony, and to all the members who've helped to make this site what it is. The site is nothing without anglers willing to contribute, share knowledge and have a bit of banter, so thank you all. Here's to the next 1000 posts and beyond πŸ‘
