    The motor can be removed from the housing and I'll see if I can free it off but it's been sitting in salt water for who knows how long so it may well be beyond repair.

    What you on about? A spinning rod would be fine for bream and macks, and would also do double duty as an occasional jigging rod. I reckon you need to go back to bed Steve...

    I've discovered why my port side trim tab actuator wasn't working. The motor is seized due to water ingress. See the puddle on the floor in the bottom right corner of the pic below? All that came out of the actuator when I opened it up. Luckily, despite looking crappy, the gears are all fine and turn the ram without excess friction or sticking, which means I can clean them up, relube them and re-use them. So I'll order a replacement motor and see how it goes from there.

    For what you plan to use it for, a light to medium spinning rod would be a suitable option. Savage Gear do some decent spinning rods. I also seem to remember that there's an Ugly Stik spinning version.
