  1. I'm with you on this Jon - catch and eat is way more defensible than C&R, and as I think we both agreed on the dark side, spear-fishing comes out top of the crop in respect of selective, sustainable fishing methods. Here's a potential middle-ground for photos... what if anglers took a photo of the fish, especially of the species and sizes of fish that your daughter guides for, in the water alongside the boat. It's a clear capture, so the angler has the kudos if that's their thing, and whatever happens next can remain off camera - either a kill and chill or a release. Seems to be the best of both worlds?

Welcome to the site Bunney. Nice looking boat. 👍
  3. Just flicked through that vid quickly and it looks great! Good find @gallagherdee 👍
  4. TBH for this job, any squeezy tubes of epoxy would do. Araldite or similar. From memory your bench legs are what, 30mm diameter? So a couple of 15ml twin tube packs would likely be enough to give sufficient depth to your fix. Or if not, make up a plug of marine ply, just undersized, and use the epoxy to fix that in the hole instead. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Araldite-Ultra-Strong-Adhesive-Standard/dp/B00K2Z5O2C/ref=asc_df_B00K2Z5O2C/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=207994943462&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=878423880098437636&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007009&hvtargid=pla-716621117969&psc=1
  5. Can you take off the bench seat altogether? If so, I'd remove it and tape off the top of the hole, then turn the bench over and fill the hole with epoxy to the desired depth, which should give you a strong enough surface to re-fix the leg to.
  6. What! You mean you don't enjoy blanking in the freezing cold?? 🤣 I have to agree. So few of them about now that we fish for them more in hope than expectation...
  7. Yeah, true, but we had the Boga grip there and there's more space to avoid an angry conger in your tub. If all else fails we can hide like schoolgirls in your saloon with the door shut 🤣. Not sure @Plaicehunter has that option!
  8. On a more serious note, big conger are fun, and bass on light lure gear. I spent a few seasons lure fishing for bass from shore and really enjoyed the watercraft that goes into catching a bass on a lure.
  9. If he's even half sensible he'll keep them outside the boat!
  10. Ok, so one final thing to suggest - your prop hub. Is it still intact? Have you, or maybe a previous owner, hit something with the prop to make the hub shear (they're designed to do this to spare the gearbox from serious damage)? If so, you'd get full revs with your engine, but the hub would be slipping and the prop won't rotate as fast. A long shot, but this could cause your lack of speed.
  11. You have no idea how envious your posts make me feel PH! 🤣 Well done for getting out and catching a few for tea. Always good to be on the water. Thanks for posting 👍
  12. If you reduce the size of the pictures so that they are under 2Mb, or use a file-hosting service like Imgur or Flickr you'll be good to go. Do you have a second bung though? Not the external transom bung that drains the bilge, but one inside the boat itself?
  13. @Redcap19, when I had my Orkney I found that both corner voids underneath the rear bench seat were full of rainwater. I only found this out when I unscrewed the bilge pump to replace the diaphragm - upon removing the first fixing screw a jet of water came out! I had to use a narrow bore hose to suck up all the water between the foam and the side walls. On your Strikeliner do you have an under-floor bung like the one circled, that drains into the bilge? If so it's probably worth opening that up to check you don't have water between the hull and the floor - this could add significant weight and reduce your max speed, plus cause roll instability.
  14. A quick look on Amazon has thrown this one up. Not used this particular model before but it's an example of the sort of thing that would at least be a cheap (£10) way to work out what revs you're getting from your engine. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inductive-Tachometer-Resettable-Paramotors-Microlights/dp/B07GZMYH2R/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=digital+rev+counter&qid=1610882504&sr=8-15
  15. Probably worth borrowing a 15 pitch and seeing if that gets you more knots then.
  16. In which case it would be worth fitting an aftermarket rev counter just so you can work out what revs you're getting and then work out whether a re-prop is the way to go.
  17. I just called.... to say... I love them 🐶🎣
  18. If it helps... I had an Orkney Coastliner with a Honda 20hp on it. Smaller engine and smaller boat. Best I ever had was 12kts. I'm sort of agreeing with Jon, 14kts with a 25hp isn't too bad for a semi-D hull like yours.

FFS @JonC... not only do you crash someone else's thread, but you do it with testicles! ⚽️⚽️🤦‍♂️
  21. Fuel filter blocked? Or fuel hoses collapsing under load?
  22. I used to live near Deal when I was very young. Have vague recollections of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway?
