  1. Ah. That's a bugger. Fingers crossed you all only get the mild symptoms. The self-isolation rules don't seem to make sense in every case, but I guess as long as you act in the spirit of limiting the spread then that's what the scientists are hoping for. Best go crack a Strongbow then... shout if you need more and we'll arrange an air-drop 🤣👍
  2. Sorry to hear that Swampy. Not good. Fingers crossed for a negative outcome for you all. 🤞

    Hi all,

I'm guessing that a lot of their work is done offshore and out of sight of land, so whilst it's an understandable perception, I'm sure (hope?) there's more to it than stopping illegal netters in a harbour.
  4. Well that seems to do the trick then! Lovely fish 👍
  5. Welcome Ian! What a great catch photo to kick off your Intro post with! I take it that's an east Wight cod? If so, then I'm highly envious - all the cod in our neck of the woods seem to give my hooks a very wide berth! 🤣 Post up some pics of your MF on the Show us yer Boat thread if you haven't already - we love a good boat pic or three 👍
  6. She looks great Jed. Very nice. The HDS 9's are very good units. I have mine running the Active Imaging 3 in 1 transducer and networked to an Airmar M260. Let me know what you think of the StructureScan 3D when you get it installed. 👍

    Hello

Welcome Jed. She looks like a capable tub 👍. As @Saintly Fish has already suggested, post up some more pics on the Show us yer Boat thread.
  8. Or you could go for a hybrid hull shape - shallow V at the bow, but dory style at the stern. Slams less and yet still has reasonable stability.
  9. Those Wilsons will still plane, they'll just slam when they drop off or try to go through a wave. It wouldn't necessarily be a deal-breaker for me. After all, during a day long session, you're at anchor for longer than you're under way, so you may find that stability is what you value more.
  10. Yep, the hull shape that gives stability at anchor is also the shape that slams when it drops back onto the water surface. Unfortunately you can't have both stability and a soft ride.
  11. I can't say I've heard anything bad about the V-Tec system. Like any outboard they'll need regular servicing to keep them running smoothly.
  12. I did think he'd perhaps shot himself in the foot there 🤣
  13. 🤣🤣 Very good. You can have an 8 for that 😉
  14. Excellent report Swampy 👍. Lots of good detail there. Sounds like a productive day afloat with something for everyone - good work.
  15. Hi Scruff, According to your engine's manual (link here: http://download.brunswick-marine.com/filereader/file/pdf/4/enen/outboard/2006/optimax/10208r71.pdf), you need: "a marine starting battery with 1000 MCA, 800 CCA or 180 Ah. Do not use deep cycle batteries."
  16. Be sure to post up some pics on the Show us yer Boat thread then Micky 👍
  17. Nice pollack! Did he say where that came from?
  18. I've been using Daiwa J-Braid pretty much for ever on my boat reels. Whilst I have no particular complaints about the J-Braid, it is expensive for what it is. What other braids are people using? @headlight, I'll save you the effort of posting to add that I already know about your chinese Spectra braid 😉
  19. Has anyone come across a heavy-weight trip device for larger boats? i.e. something more scientific than cable ties or whipping?
  20. Just thinking about this a bit - would it be possible to use a spare shackle to ensure it can't trip when overnighting? You could leave the cable ties on and shackle the chain to the last eye of the anchor whenever you need to, then remove and let the ties do their work when fishing.
  21. Looks good. That is surprisingly close to @Saintly Fish's interior, only his is rhubarb and custard stripes.
  22. Another good session Alan. Well done 👍 Where do you get the sliders from? Can you share a link?
