  1. Actually, no. From my brother in law. Nice try though πŸ˜‰
  2. And it'll be how long til it gets used in anger?? 🀣
  3. I think you're missing the point of the Add A Battery kit. The money is in the VCR module that manages the charge distribution. The switch is just the Blue Sea version of any other ON/OFF/COMBINE switch. If you buy a generic switch you won't be installing any charge management hardware unless you also buy a VCR or other charge controlling diode.
  4. Go carefully with the 500's. I seem to remember them being known for digging in at the bow in a following sea due to their relatively short length and heavy cabin.
  5. A rather random one this... but strangely compelling...
  6. That first one looks to have potential. πŸ‘
  7. Agreed. That was one of the reasons I went with the Blue Sea kit - eliminates the need for manual battery switching. Just switch the master switch to ON when launching the boat and the VCR box takes care of charge management. Then switch OFF when ready to leave the boat.
  8. That looks like a decent hull, but 50hp will be underpowered. 60 is about the practical minimum for 16ft boats like these.
  9. Yeah, probably. But then I dont run an aux on it, nor on my other boat. It's a personal choice but engines are so reliable these days, and with sensible battery charge management there should never be a need for an aux. Something else to consider, but when was the last time you heard anyone say they got home from X miles out by using their auxiliary?
  10. I fitted a Blue Sea Add a Battery kit to my Predator. Quite simple to do DIY and makes charge management a fit and forget affair. Strongly recommended.
  11. I have a practically unused 2hp Honda I'd throw into the deal for the right person πŸ˜‰
  12. No advert there. Just gives a list of kayaks for sale? However I think I now know why the boat was priced competitively, based on your post. I could be wrong... but custom built trailer = home made? If I'm right I'd question whether it would have been correctly spec'd to be braked and compliant with current trailer regs.
  13. To be fair, that sounds like a bit of a fire sale price. A bit too keen a price for the spec, so it's not surprising it went quickly.
  14. It happens Jon. Shame you missed out this time but you'll find the right one for you before long. πŸ‘
  15. Of course, I reserve the right to uninvite you nearer the time.
  16. You can laugh @JonC, but you can only dream of the numbers of dogfish I can put you onto! πŸΆπŸŽ£πŸ‘
  17. So given that a vaccine seems to be more likely by next summer, this thread is worth a bump. Who's up for a Solent boat meet?
  18. Has anyone successfully targeted flatfish on the fly? Maybe a weighted shrimp fly or worm-like lure could work?
