  1. Sensible decision Luke 👍
  2. There speaks the voice of a hoarder... 😉🤣
  3. He got lucky with a link 😝. Let's face it, throw enough at the wall and something's bound to stick... I found the Ospreys were taking my fancy before he found the Atlantis, and I was even prepared to put my "outboards only" requirement to one side for them.
  4. Yes, I've only ever heard horror stories about outdrive legs in general, so not totally surprised to hear you say that. It's a shame, but nothing that regular maintenance can't address.
  5. We got chatting to your friend when we moored up on Sunday. The Ospreys were on my short-list when I was boat-hunting and his is a very nice example.
  6. Lowrance HDS5m GPS unit, which connects by ethernet to the LSS-1 module and transom-mount transducer. All cables included (HDS5m power cable, yellow ethernet cable, LSS-1 power cable). This unit was previously flush-mounted and does not come with the dash mount stand nor chart card. The transducer mount will need 2x M6 stainless bolts and nylocs. The mount itself has seen better days and shows some signs of galvanic corrosion. The transducer itself ticks nicely. Not really sure how to price this as there aren't any that I've seen for sale in the UK to give a ballpark market value, so let's say £100 plus P&P.
  7. I've heard of the "roll it onto the grass" technique, but I've never done it personally. Getting it off sounds straightforward enough... it's getting it back on that concerns me. Seems like the hitch end of the trailer will end up pointing skywards unless you hitch it to a tow vehicle, which then means the boat has to climb up onto the rollers by itself, which is something it was probably never designed to do. Last thing you want is to crack the keel or pull out the towing eye. When I replaced the axle on my first boat I just jacked the trailer up (including boat) then blocked it off and dropped the old axle. I didn't use a grinder to remove the old bolts - mine came off with some penetrating fluid and a breaker bar with extension (aka a 3 foot length of scaffold pole slid over the end of the breaker bar). If I were to do it again I would investigate this route first. Even if you find you need to grind off the bolts I'd still do it with the boat on the trailer. You should be able to access the bolt heads from above the axle, thus avoiding the need for grinding from underneath and risking sparks, swarf or spinning grinders falling on you. One other suggestion - you can buy nut splitters quite cheaply. Could be a good (read: safer) alternative to grinding them off. https://www.toolstation.com/nut-splitter-set/p80007
  8. Thanks all. I went for this one in the end (except in white, not black): https://www.aquafax.co.uk/products/bullboy-b15-slim-led-light-15w-black-8-14008 I'll post up a review once I've wired it in.

    Solent

Good report and lovely cod. Well done 👍👍. I've never heard of a bung thread stripping. Presume you'll need to replace the whole bung fitting, plus new bung? Top bodging to save the day.
  10. Very productive session Scott 👍. And you got your hook back too - bonus!!
  11. Well, no unicorns sadly but a good day on the water nonetheless. Plenty of fish to keep us occupied, and good banter. Big thanks to @Saintly Fishfor keeping a sharp lookout as we came back in thick fog!
  12. Congers have woken up now. Neil lost a cod... allegedly...
  13. No blank for either of us. So far I have pout and whiting to my name, plus a tail-hooked dogfish 🤣
  14. Fisty and I left early to chase a unicorn in the Solent. As we made our way down to the pontoon we were stopped by @Scotch_Egg2012 to say hello. Good to meet you Scott 👍 As we headed out of Pompey Harbour I caught Neil doing his best catalogue model pose We're now anchored outside of Cowes. Whiting, pout, dogfish (yes!!!) and a couple of straps so far. Stay tuned for more updates...
  15. I swear these early starts don't get any easier 😴. Aiming for 7am.
  16. I had that one too Steve. Delete and block sender.
  17. Always good to plan ahead. Yes, we're out tomorrow. Somewhere west of Portsmouth Harbour, not sure where yet. I doubt we'll head that far. Just find a spot to sit tight in and see if we can tickle up a unicorn 🦄🦄
  18. Where you heading to Josh? South of the Needles?
  19. @captin slows old outlaw may be able to help here... Pete, have you any experience of Lymington slip?
  20. We're out tomorrow too Scott. Early start and plan to head west past Cowes. Might see you on the pontoon.
  21. That is top dangling in anyone's book! A species hat-trick. Well done 👍
  22. Cracking catch Steve! Bread flake and ground bait?
