  1. Had another swim early this morning. Missed a couple of good mullet and a decent bass but at least I spotted this chap mooching about in the kelp. He's due a hot bath tonight.
  2. I can understand that. Luckily this one tasted good 👍
  3. Top fishing! Well done to all 👍
  4. Glad you both had a good time out. 34 is a very respectable tally - great work 👍
  5. Down in Cornwall for the week and we headed to Lantivet to take my son snorkelling. As we reached the headland we were greeted with a stunning vista. Heading down to the beach itself we were looking forward to getting into the crystal clear water. After an hours' snorkelling together Tom headed back in for lunch. We'd seen some amazing ballan wrasse amongst the kelp. Both cocks and hens, proper fish the size of piglets, plus plenty of sandeels, spider crabs and a sneaky brown crab in a rocky hole that we couldn't quite tease out into the bag. I stayed out and loitered over a submerged reef for a while, having a suspicion that bass would also frequent the same spots as wrasse. Of course I'd taken my speargun out with me. As if someone had flicked a switch I found myself surrounded by schoolie bass, with a huge mullet cruising below them. I took a shot but missed, the spear bouncing off the rocks below. Cursing my luck I reloaded the speargun and floated motionless above the reef again. Didn't take long for another shoal to come by, again with a mullet in tow. Another shot and success! A golden grey in the bag. He tasted great on the barbecue with lime, salt and pepper - very much like mackerel.
  6. Agree. It's an estuary boat I reckon. Not sure about taking it out beyond Bembridge Ledges.
  7. Sounds like a great trip. Nice one! 👍
  8. Lovely session! Well done. Was rather envious when I saw that pic. Top dangling 👍
  9. Looks like a fab set up, but I've got to ask... Exactly how many rod holders? 😉
  10. Welcome Robin. Nice boat. Is there a hull information plate anywhere on the boat? Often found on the inside of the transom.
  11. Sounds like you'd need a jig wallet then, rather than a box with compartments.
  12. Hi Juan, welcome to Offshore Outlaws. Are you the owner of www.doradosportfishing.es?
  13. Top dangling!! Turbot and brill! Very well done 👍
  14. Very nice! Well done the pair of you. Some lovely fish for the table there 👍
  15. The plan was to hit the same mark we'd had good success on a few weeks ago for stingrays and smoothounds. We had the boys along chauffeuring us to the mark. Lovely conditions gave a smooth ride out. We dropped the hook in less than 3m of water, and with clear vis we could make out rocks, cables, abandoned anchors and even starfish on the sea floor. What we could not spot however, was fish. No stingrays, no smoothounds, no nothing. Neil had a decent run, typically on a scratching rig, which snapped him off after a couple of minutes. But other than that it was a desert. We moved into slightly deeper water where we rustled up a few bream. Unfortunately we had a rather negative experience next. Not far from our mark, what seemed like the entire Solent population of WAFI's were having their annual Teddy Bear's picnic, and decided to use Tarlach Too as a marker buoy to see which of them could pass the closest to us. We must have been buzzed by over 10 yachts at least. I lost a rig to their idiocy and several bouts of fruity language was deployed as they passed within a gnat's whisker of us. Truly disappointed by their navigational behaviour. We decided to head back in, somewhat salvaging the day by a high speed blast back that saw the boys reliving their antics from when they were a good few years younger. Amazing to see how much they've grown since they first met on board TT, and no matter that they're now almost "too cool for school" they still enjoy a faceful of sea spray on the way back home 😀. Despite the lack of target fish and poor form from the yachts we still managed a good few giggles and some lively worm-related banter with the boys. Thanks as always to @Saintly Fish for hosting us 👍.
  16. Yep. You should thank me. I'm sparing you from the pain of the uninvites that follow.
  17. There's no error. I'm blocking them.
  18. Don't worry, I'm sure your uninvitation is in the post 👍
  19. Nice session! Well dangled. Shame about the big bass - next time! 👍
  20. Ooh! What's the new job??
  21. Ah, so you've met my dog then?? 🤣
  22. It was a rhetorical question... unless the previous owners nailed the o/b onto the back of the fishbox?? 😬
  23. Is that an o/b pod on the transom? Or a fish box??
