The subscription is just for map updates no? On Lowrance I never bothered with the rolling subscription each year and the maps & relief shading worked just fine. Pretty sure with Garmin it's the same - the sub is for yearly updates not a way of charging you for access to the maps you've already paid for.

Odyssey, I’m over in Angle
We have spoken a few times on WSF…most recently about jacking plates.
You'll find less censorship over here... ask us how we know that 😖😉👍

I have just lost relief shading on my iPad, anyone any ideas why? I turned it off and now can’t get it back on but I still have it on my phone
could do with it tomorrow as out from a different port
Got to be a settings thing but not sure what could be the reason why it's gone. Check the settings on your Navionics app maybe?

So you feel its definitely worth the investment then.
I will monitor the water colour around here, its often quite murky round this area til summer proper (both days). Even the drift marks are very hard work seldom producing much.
Good work you two 👍
Don't need to spend much to fish with jigs. A spinning rod and a FS reel from shore or a spinning rod that will take a multi from a boat will be fine. But as an exception that proves the rule, Leo caught a whopper of a wrasse using my spare spinning rod and FS reel when we were with @Odyssey on Odyssey in Wales back in the autumn last year.
Suggest you spend no more than £50 on a few jigs of various weights (colour less important in my view) and use a spinning rod or 12/20 and just see what happens 👍.

The wheelhouse is basic- dash with a few instruments and gauges, comfortable seat and a small lower folding seat along the side of the wheelhouse.
The boat comes with a 60lt cool box -looks like a yeti cooler with different decals to me, and a small porta potty.
You can lay out in the cabin if you wanted - it would be okay for one person- not two, unless very good friends 😉.
there is a big locker beneath the floor of the cabin and of course a sliding door, two side sliding windows, an opening roof light and a few overhead lights.
ours has a windlass fitted and I put on an auxiliary engine.
130lt tank under floor giving a 32knot max speed from the 150hp option
cruises nicely around 21 ish knots
Thanks for the extra photos. Lots to like there 👍

@Andy135 Is that because you are targetting areas better suited to SPJ or are you on normal marks fishing alongside static baited rigs as well? Can't fish both side by side as SPJ is fished on the drift vs static baits at anchor. Also, it would depend on what you're targeting on baits. Rays or eels are unlikely to take a lure, but for example I've caught many more mackerel on jigs from shore than from feathers, and comfortably more pollack.
Same for marks - some are better suited to anchor, others on the drift.

So you boys seeing better catches on SPJ over normal fishing?
I would say so. To be fair we didn't do much lure fishing to start with, but with SPJ's it's getting more consistent than with jellies or shads. Drop down until you hit the bottom then two turns up and start jigging.
What I like about SPJ is the variety of species you get. Across the boat SPJ sessions, we've had... pollack, cod, bass, coalfish and wrasse, and from the shore it's been mackerel, bass, wrasse, pollack and gurnard.

Bit close to the bone you reckon??
I'm gonna need a stiff drink if this post ends up like the gardening one 🤦♂️

Yeah I’m impressed, still working out a few things - but I’m a perfectionist and well, it’s part of the game isn’t it , modify, customise blah blah blah! Never ending with cars and boats.
love the asymmetric wheelhouse and the walk through transom, dive platforms are a must for me. Lovely deep freeboard and plenty of under floor storage !
what’s not to like !Got any more photos? Would be good to see the wheelhouse layout, cockpit etc.

She looks 😍. Never been on a strikeliner (hint hint), what's the build quality like??
RTFM. It's a Smartliner, not a Strikeliner. Two totally different boats... 🤦♂️

As @Saintly Fish says, whats the build quality like. And sea-keeping? I may be in the market for a new boat shortly and this looks to have potential.

Welcome Ben. Good to have another spearfisher on board 👍

Nice looking boat. Welcome.

@GPSguru recommended some editing software recently but I can't recall the name of it. Have a quick site search Luke 👍.

@Saintly Fish and I snuck out for a dangle today instead of working. Plan was SPJ's in Yarmouth Deeps and around the Needles, then drifting with squid baits over Dolphin Bank to see what was home.
A lovely morning with beautiful conditions greeted us.
The bass were at home at the Deeps. I lost a good fish at the surface while Neil was being slow with the net. He then lost another which made me feel better. Then I boated this beauty.
We tried the Needles Bridge next, but no bites, so on to the Dolphin Bank.
Neil bagged up on dogfish but also had a nice smoothound and a young tope.
I too managed a dogfish (phew!).
Back to the Deeps on the flood and as we drifted past Hurst Castle Neil hooked into a proper fish that snapped him off at the leader. Sadly we don't know what it was, probably either a bass or the Kraken.
Headed home after that as the tide picked up and made jigging too difficult. Thanks Neil for a great day on the water. Lots of giggles and hook-ups, and some decent fish to the boat.

Whoppers! Well dangled ACSA members! 💪

Yep, take a look at any of my shore jigging posts from down in Fowey. It's a killer method for a wide variety of species using just 20g and 30g jigs.
Colours not so important as weight to get down quickly if from a boat/yak and flutter nicely. Obviously from shore it needs to be within the designated casting weight of the rod in question but I've found it to be a more effective than regular plastic/soft plastic lures.
A normal spinning rod will be fine from a yak. Don't need spiral wrapped SPJ rods unless going for heavier (200g+) jigs and bigger species in my (admittedly limited) view.
Edited to say Ian ( @GPSguru) is probably right about jigging multi's vs FS/spinning reels. It's easier to feel that the jig has hit the bottom with a multi and therefore avoid snags, and they generally have larger drag surface areas, meaning smoother drag actions and therefore less chance of snapping off when tightening the drag.

Check tyre pressures across the axle/s.
Is the trailer on even ground?
Are the centre roller sets equidistant from the centre line of the trailer itself?
And lastly (but probably most unlikely), is the hull warped?

That's a great pic @mike farrants. Can you take one with three bream next time please?? 🤣

Nice one Rog. The water temps are high enough for the bass to be active, so I'm sure you'll find more fish soon.

Fair do's for posting up a blank.👍

Good effort @Bazzer. Yarmouth Deeps or Needles?
