So, with tomorrows imminent arrival of said boat things suddenly feel very real!!
I'm gonna be a proper boat owner!
The trailer whilst sound and in good nick, had had everything removed brake wise and the wheels / tyres are past their best so thats gonna need some love. Its Purely been used as a launching trailer and mover around the yard where its launched from.
I'm not one for taking risks so the downside is that it's cost a fair chunk on a recovery truck. The boats not local enough to sort in situ so it is what it is - my first unforseen expense!!!!
So all being well it'll be on the driveway tomorrow evening and the real fun and sleepless nights, through fear of it being nicked can begin!
1st job is sorting the trailer, whipping the wheels off and making it secure and prevent it going missing!
After that its onto getting the boat how want it.
It only has a single battery set up, so I'll need to install a 2nd and the associated wiring to go with it.
VHF is ancient, as is the garmin 160c fish finder so these need updating.
    New anchor, chain and rope.
Fire extinguisher and safety bits will need purchasing as will fenders.
Hull has previously been antifouled, so have a waterline to work to. Gonna need new coat, so some sanding and a new coat will make a difference.
The deck will either need repainting or a new top coat. I'm tempted by the later, and doesn't look too difficult to prep. But I'll need to remove a few extra pedalstal seats and fill the holes prior to this.
Whilst it's out if the water, I'm tempted to replace fuel lines and maybe even steering. That reminds me, I need to install a fuel water separator too.
Engine is sound and well looked after. Full service history and paper work supplied. Despite this, I may invest in the services of someone who knows their way around an outboard proper and have it looked over.
New cover will have to be purchased - but no rush on that.
So these are all the easy bits........ we'll discuss the more difficult stuff in due course.
All being well, ill post up a few images tomorrow and you'll see how a perfectly good boat can be made Into an eye sore!!
Marina berth has been arranged for April, so I've 8 weeks to get her how I want her.
Oh, I also need to sort an auxiliary, ideally a 6hp as these seem popular.
    Exciting times ahead.😬😬😬😬

Didn't it just, the ridiculous price increases kinda did my legs but allowed me to save a few more pennies until the right boat came along.
Managed to find a raider 18 cuddy.
    Pics will follow.
Gonna be a project for the next couple of months as needs a few bits doing - nothing major to most of you guys but all new to me!!
Big thanks to @Jupiters Moon who made this all possible.
I'll start another thread in due course an see if it goes longer than this one!!

WOW - what a weekend - given the forecast we decided to head out to the Adamant on Sat and Sunday - both trips on my friends boat Seadog - a Benateau Antares 710.
Target Big rays and whiting - anything else a bonus
met at 7am and headed out at first light armed with frozen mackerel, squid, cuttle, and pot noodles,
We first tried for fresh mackerel around portlands first entrance, no mackerel but i bagged my PB pollock at 2lb taken on some scraggly old tinsels that i refuse to throw out (you know the ones we all have em) - delighted to have a PB on the boat before 9AM and dinned sorted!

we gave up on the mackerel after half an hour and made the 45min long steam out tot he adamant - dropping anchor on top of the bank.
in about 60-70ft water, decent tide running - 12ox leads or heavier needed.
Tim soon pulls up a slab of a blonde - pushing 13.5lb

we then get into the whiting - many over 1lb - some to 2lb - the bigger ones taking the big bottom baits. this continued the the rest of the tide, we ended on 7 large keepers and lost count of the smaller ones.

once the tide turned we settled nicely out of the cool NE wind, but the fishing slowed down.
I was getting a few light taps on my lighter rod, hoping for a ray i left it to develop, and was soon into a decent fish - giving a few head knocks, but kiting up a bit i suspected a ray, but oh no - we all got very excited when we say a decent turbot rising tot he surface - a quick scramble for net and it was aboard - my first ever and PB turbot - of 4lb. Stunning fish and deffo dinner - the pollock got relegated to the freezer!

that was the last noteworthy fish of the day.
I filleted the keepers on the way in and shared the whiting with friends and neighbours - keeping the pollock and turbot to myself.
Sunday we met again at the marina but chose to head straight to the adamant - anchoring again on the top.
Tim was soon into the first fish which gave a spirited fight and tangled 3 other lines - lots of swearing got the 8lb angry spurdog in the boat - put in a flexi tub while we sorted the tangles, it was soon released. a lovely fish!

we continued to catch loads of small whiting but only had 3 keepers and the dogs seemed more ravenous that saturday.
Tim had a small spotted ray
on the turn of the tide the fishing picked up again - runing out of mackerel we switched to squid and this seemed to help.
I had a huge pull down on my smaller rod in the holder, on a whole squid - but by the time i had got hold of it the fish had spat the bait - knowing to leave it down there sure enough a minute later it was back - bang - my PB smoothound - we didn't weight it, but i'm estimating 5lb.

the bait survived and went back down, only to get me a small Spotted ray - a very angry one!

Tim finished the day with a tiny smoothie Pup.
I went home delighted, exhausted, and cooked up some Cajun baked turbot for tea!

One thing to remember is everyone who attended this media launch knew its not about the winning but how the comp was run and how to better it for next year. It was also aimed at contestants with a bit of media behind them so they would publicise it for next year.

lush day today, we are out making vids

Yeah, dates are  yet to be confirmed for next year I belive.
Was the first event this weekend just gone, which was a promotional event with only 40 boats. Think theres a BT sports programme soon on it.
Had an amazing prize table an a great atmosphere over the 2 days
Next year is said to be 400 boat which will be interesting!

    Yes but I'm still boatless!
Was offered a 50% share in a Raider cuddy, but then the seller had a touchnif the 2nds. To be honest id only considered it as the other owner rarely uses it so mightnhave worked although not really ideal.

More promising was an Endeavour 500 i went to see last week. It was advertised wellnover price.
I went to seen after discussing money and a more realistic price.
It was very much unloved an in need of some TLC which is fine. The downside was the state if the keel. Having been mainly trailer launched, there were sone proper chuncks in the hull. Needed patching in about 4 or 5 spots. Mainly gell coat, but 2 were down to the glass.
The trailer was a state, an would have needed a complete overhaul. To highlight that it was even missing a roller an sat on the metal arm..... not encouraged when U was the one to point it out.
    Always been trailed.
Orginal 2005 electorincs an wiring so that all needes re doing.
All of that was doable for me, but the priced needed to reflect it.
He wouldn't budge on the money, an being far from a turn key package Ive walked away. Shame as its 3 miles from my house an nit been used for the last couple of years.
Engine was recently service ( almost 800 quid) new fuel pump etc.
I'm hoping he might come back to me but we'll seen. Ive pointed out similar packages going for the money he's asking that are far better in comparison.
It'll haooen but in the mean time I just keep badgering others😂
