Jon cook got a reaction from Saintly Fish in Find Jon cook a new boat
Not really bud.
The raiders still in Bournemouth, what with Covid / lockdown i won't travel down to see it.
Sadly theres to many flouting it as it is, I wont add myself to that list!
Despite that, im still looking about...
A friends father in law recently passed from this dreaded virus an was a keen boat angler. He had a boat in an Essex marina, which they know nothing about an want me to advise them on re selling etc.
He died in early december, an with the family not knowing anything about it, i've suggest they find out sharpish where its at.
All they know was that it was used regularly an that its on a trailer, thus launched as an when....... could be something, but on the other hand might just be another wild goose chase.
When I find our more I'll be asking for advice.

Jon cook reacted to Odyssey in Recreational angling NOW permitted under Lockdown 3
Ok so you let people go fishing, then 5 miles becomes 10 becomes 50....
Now people want to go shooting
Oh wait, I fancy a round of golf, I can go out too...
So it goes on.... people now others out and about, let’s jump on the bandwagon. Lockdown becomes too difficult to enforce.... COVID spreads.
Sorey to be a grump but all people have to do it sit tight for 6 weeks. Or maybe you should pop and have a chat with an intensive care nurse...
Where do you draw the line? If we all keep chipping away at lockdown May as well not bother

Sort of ........... The 8.5 - 15 is a lovely action rod that covers most bases ......... the others are 'OK' rods

Ol Leaky Boots, a great and entertaining read.

Hope.all goes well with the op @GPSguru
On the Xmas front, only fishing thing I got was ' A Bass Anglers life', by Robin Bradley.
Been perusing the Sales for new sea outfits.... what with Covid this years sales seem a bit lack luster which is understandable.

Raider 18 different boat go the 16. Stick to the 18.
Id keep your eyes open for a Day Angler 19. Loads of room and lockable cabin as well

Thanks chaps., keep em comming.
That raider 16 is unfortunately all the way up in Scotland..... I was talking with a guy who's owned both an steered me away from the 16, on account of the the 18 being a much more capable boat.
Tier 4 has delayed me seeing the Raider cuddy which ive previously posted about. I'm assured its not going anywhere as its not advertised.
Merry christmas one an all.
Thanks for all the pointers

Optimal uses direct injection IIRC therefore similar to EFI 4S. However more noisy.
Given a raider with engine at right height and propped correctly you’ll get 0.8l/m. Depending on how far you travel/how often I doubt you’ll see much difference in rubbing costs 🙂

Hi Jon, where is the raider? Quite happy to come and view with you.

Opti max still a good engine, with low hours you can always sell and look out for a 4 stroke replacement

Good point well presented, perhaps i should have said slam more than a V hull / plaining hull.

Pop down your local marina or boat clubs, put the word out for what you’re after.
look at suitable boats in marinas, find the details of owners and make an offer. This can work well if boat not used much.... 😉
For example on seansea Marina there are a lot of warrior 165s etc, offer of some hard cash may people think twice....
I nearly got an offshore 25 by doing this. But on sea trials the owner realised how nice the boat was abs didn’t sell. Now uses it a lot 🤣🤣🤣

Sure is a fabulous looking boat an engine combo, an a click an go package that'll make someone very happy im sure.
I could stretch for say a raider 18 or warrior 175, but with lots of 165 sized boats around some well below my budget.
Something will come along soon enough, by which point thisll become the lingest running thread😂
I don't want insult @Andy135when hes priced it well above my price range in the first place.
Isn't 2HP a bit small as an Aux on a boat like that ??

Go carefully with the 500's. I seem to remember them being known for digging in at the bow in a following sea due to their relatively short length and heavy cabin.

Yeah, probably. But then I dont run an aux on it, nor on my other boat. It's a personal choice but engines are so reliable these days, and with sensible battery charge management there should never be a need for an aux.
Something else to consider, but when was the last time you heard anyone say they got home from X miles out by using their auxiliary?

I have a practically unused 2hp Honda I'd throw into the deal for the right person 😉
