Jon cook reacted to Geoff in Find Jon cook a new boat
If 10K is top budget, 14K is miles away, I know that Andy's boat is lovely, but we are not all made of money. One of the reasons that I am building my own boat is because I would like new, but cannot afford it. With self build you can sneak up on the expense side slowly (does not HAVE to be 5/6 years - that is just me with too many projects). Geoff. ☺️

Quick fat fingers - twas meant to be in relation to 'your such a tool', but I see this was in the orginal forsale post, not for u trying to sell on his boat....😁

@Jon cook, if youve got a bit more to spend and @Andy135 is game then surely there could be a deal to do?

If it were me, I’d go straight for the biggest boat. Purely because of your worried about a starter boat being small, you won’t take long to talk yourself into needing a bigger boat. Then you’ll spend months wishing you’d bought bigger.

I'm inclined to agree with you on this. Ive fished with @Jupiters Moon and another mate on his 21fter. Ive not even been aboard a smalker offering at sea.
Been looking for a Warrior 175 of smartliner 17 but realistically I doubt ill find one. Ive the money asisde to increase the budget for said boat though, but this will leave me little for other stuff.

😂
Im thinking a fast Fisher type boat.
Warrior, raider, explorer elite, endeavour........ other suggestions welcome.
Trailer required for the future sharking trips.
The plan is to have it on a mooring at Newhaven.

Sounds good to me😂
At the risk of being accused of being too fussy lets put a 10k limit on it..... thats kinda top end of my budget which shoukd see me a half decent boat / engine package.

Evening Folks,
I could waffle in but i'll keep it brief.
As an avid fishermen of 30+ years, i've finally decided to get a proper boat, instead of relying on invites for a few mates.
Currently own a 12' seastrike, but predominantly used for Piking.
Stumbled across this forum in researching a proper sea boat.
I'll be boring you with advice threads as the winter progresses whilst i try an find a suitable suitable boat for the Spring.
Kinda thinking an explorer elite / 165 or endevour but i'm in no great hurry.
Stay safe,
Jon
