pete.g got a reaction from FreeDinky in Cooking Bass
I like Bass cooked the Mediterranean way, the recipe is a bit lengthy but here goes;
heat some olive oil in a pan,add a squirt of tomato paste,sundried tomato paste,garlic paste,chile paste and a pinch of dried mixed herbs,fry gently for a couple of minutes.
add skinned fillets of bass,or any other white fish and fry gently for a couple of minutes each side.
add a tin of tomatoes,stir in, then add a tin of butter beans or cannelini beans,make sure you rinse the beans off in cold water to remove the starch before adding them.
add salt then cover the pan and simmer gently on the lowest possible heat for about an hour to soften the beans.

It doesn't need explaining here either Pete.g, most of the boat fishers here ground their teeth on that forum. We all look forward to hearing some of your tales when you get around to it. Geoff.☺️ You made no comment about Neils G&S dig at, but I was rather hoping that you favoured something better than the heavy metal brigade on here seem to love. Geoff.☺️

Welcome Pete, sounds like you've had a varied and extensive fishing career then! As @Saintly Fish says, go ahead and post up an intro, and share some pics of your boat on the "Show us yer Boat" thread. We do love a good boat pic here 👍

Welcome Pete! Good to have you on here. Sounds like you've had an interesting career. Bet there are some good tales to be told?
Glad you like the forum. We're small but growing and the more the merrier, so feel free to spread the word 👍
You have some wonderful coastline in Cornwall. I'm more than a little bit envious! Are you N or S coast?

pete.g reacted to Saintly Fish in Hi all,
Thanks for the intro Pete. Most of us are just part time leisurely boat fisherman who are more than happy catching dog fish ( @Andy135 ) and the like. Nothing quite as interesting as your fishing but we love it all the same. Your very welcome here and we hope you enjoy and don’t get easily offended.
May I ask for marketing purposes how you came across us?

Found this forum yesterday and really like it, hopefully it will prove to be a very popular one. I fish for Salmon, seatrout, trout, Bass and other sea fish and have been lucky enough to fish all over GB and Ireland ,Canada the USA,Chile and Argentina. I have my own boat an Explorer Elite and get out on it as often as the weather permits here in Cornwall.I spent over 25 years of my working life as a Fisheries Enforcement Officer with the NRA and then the EA working on the Salmon rivers of Devon and Cornwall and as a boat skipper patrolling the coast.I retired at 54 taking VERS and since then have been lucky enough to guide and host flyfishing trips to the USA and Patagonia which will hopefully kick off again once this Covid has passed.

Yes i'm a fly fisherman,Salmon,Seatrout and Trout,although the Salmon and Seatrout are not around like they used to be.
Pre- Covid i was lucky enough to guide and host fly fishing trips to Patagonia and the States for a few years but the future for that is pretty uncertain at the moment.
Also fly fish for Bass and Pollock from my boat and Pollock on the fly certainly put a bend in the rod.
As for methods etc,Sidfish has that pretty well covered.
