It’s a weird old set up, I have Mark on text and WhatsApp but keep getting Rick phoning telling me and how sorry he is bla bla bla, originally my engineer was doing it all and then billing them, in fairness to them I think I said before they were told what my engineer had done and they said and that point can you go to the last stage which ultimately has lead to the power head gasket set being needed, it’s just been a massive balls up, obviously we haven’t got round to the vhf radio cutting off and the switch not working on the forward facing search light🤣🤣

It’s ironic really when my engineer run into difficulties getting the gasket set because of Cambridge outboards office getting covid, Mark said I’ll get them no problem, so far he has had a week without doing it, then on the phone this morning he said we could have picked the boat up and returned it done in a week, I was like firstly you didn’t offer that and secondly you can’t even get a set gaskets delivered in a week how was you going to pick up repair and re deliver the boat in a week?

I’m confused by who’s who now, I spoke to one bloke to buy it, another when I paid, the bloke who I first spoke to delivered it, the bloke I am now speaking to is Mark?

I am really annoyed, as sad as it sounds I would have liked just sitting on it doing a few bits etc, kill switch etc.

That part was checked and is fine, it may have already been changed, wrong rubber was used wasn’t it? And it swells and closes of the water way? The power head is being removed and all gaskets replaced including the adaptor plate.

The engine repair was all done with there acceptance, they are paying for it, the alternative was collecting the boat (2.5hrs and returning it fixed) my option was the easiest for them.

As you all may have read I purchased a boat from Just Boats in Southampton for 10k a fast fisher, I viewed it and see the engine pumping water through muffs for approximately 10 seconds before the engine was turnt off, boat delivery became a problem after I had paid, first it was one person delivering them someone different and so on, after around 2 weeks I got it delivered, Jon C helped me get in the water and it became immediately apparent the engine wasn’t pumping water, I managed to get my engineer to tow the boat over to his workshop where he fully stripped it down to find pieces of rubber in the water ways, originally the gasket kit for the power head was coming from Cambridge outboards but that got closed down because of covid (temporary) so I contacted Just Boats and he said I can get them sent out next day, this was Wednesday last week, nothing arrived Thursday Friday Saturday or Monday and today I phoned him to be told they have been sent to the wrong address? My long winded question is am I being impatient? I am very very close to backing the boat and asking for a refund, the boat was delivered on or around the 11th December.

Yeah exactly that, impeller was worn but intact, the engine is recorded as doing only 150 hours so I’ve no idea what the servicing history was like, can’t understand why on an engine like that you wouldn’t spend a few hundred quid a year on servicing.

I’m not engine savvy but a large piece or pieces of rubber were found in the water ways, in fairness to Just Boats once they heard at what level the engine had been stripped they said to take it to the last point which was removing the power head, I’m not sure what else can be done, new gear oil, thermostat impeller etc, it should be bang on the money when it comes back.

It’s pure bad luck and nothing more, hopefully once all sorted I can just go fishing🤣🤣

The head honcho was or still is in hospital with covid, offices are shut, I managed to get the phone answered by warehouse staff, they couldn’t locate the parts, despite being told the part no’s etc, I’ve given Mark a call at just boats and I think has now located the gaskets but not as a bundle as individuals, I’m quite disappointed in my engineer to ge honest he is a mechanic but clearly shit at sourcing parts etc, hopefully I’ll be in the water early next week although I’ve been saying that since the 1st of December🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah going really well, My engineer has stripped the power head off the outboard because it wasn’t pumping water, now he can’t get a gasket kit for it, he sourced one at Cambridge Outboards and now the whole place has shut down because of covid🤣🤣🤣 any ooo new boat feeling I should have has gone lol, literal worst purchasing experience of my life, not to throw shade on Just Boats they did offer my money back but that don’t really help TBH.
