I generally leave mine on both, unless I am at anchor for a long period (over  5 hours), then I switch to battery 2 as the house battery ...........

Is it generally considered a modern 60hp 4 stroke outputs enough amps to recharge two battery’s at once?

I think you're missing the point of the Add A Battery kit. The money is in the VCR module that manages the charge distribution. The switch is just the Blue Sea version of any other ON/OFF/COMBINE switch.

If you buy a generic switch you won't be installing any charge management hardware unless you also buy a VCR or other charge controlling diode.

It will automatically switch from primary battery over to secondary when the primary reaches full capacity in charge, as opposed to me be using the primary to start engine and motor out, then switch over to secondary

Sure no problem, I’ll do that in the morning as soon as I’ve received the money plus my 10%.

Haha that’s awesome, thanks for doing that for me, I’m going down Monday to look myself but in all fairness sounds like I don’t need to look just pay, moorings in place my end also I suppose if you have more than one boat that makes me Admiral, Admiral Powers has a nice ring to it🤣🤣

Right @KennyPowers I’ve been and seen the explorer. And here is proof,

it’s a straight boat. They haven’t cleaned it so it’s a bit grubby but looks ok. Matey did offer me the paper work to look at but I didn’t bother because the fact that he even offered it without me asking was proof enough he had it!

Id say you will need a new vhf radio or at least a hand held back up. The one on there is pretty old. Not saying it doesn’t work , but if it were me I’d replace with a new dsc type.
Could be a bargaining chip for you. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

This is excellent news, nobody’s cleaning is good enough for me so I’ll not worried about that, new radio isn’t a problem either, one trip out it’ll be covered in fish guts and scales, that’s one advantage JC has over me because he never catches anything his boat is nice and clean🤣🤣 so if you can just give him the 10k and I’ll wait down Bridgemarsh for it to be delivered😉

Just got done setting up barb wire fences and put a couple machine gun turrets up, I also carry mace, I think I’m ready to send my postcode now 🤣🤣🤣

    I didn’t even see your original post🤣🤣🤣 that’s why I didn’t reply🙄

Ok I will endeavour to pop in there Friday afternoon. Lee Marlo (LM marine) used to service my outboards and does now service @Andy135’s engine. Lee’s a good engineer.

Well it all sounds real good so far, what’s your opinion on carrying a secondary when you have a reliable 4 stroke main? I know the what the obvious choice would be but do I want or need the addition weight hanging on the transom?

Depends on how you drive the boat and how much weight you have on it but expect .75 litres per mile or better at a cruise of 20kts or there about (correctly propped of course).

They do go better with a 75/80hp on them though although 60hp will be ok, it"s just revving higher and working harder than an 80 so will use a little more fuel when pushed.

Sounds a lot better already, I like the open cuddy it will encourage me not to bank shit in the cabin, there actually is also far less weight, I was told there shouldn’t be the need for the secondary this time but I’m not so sure, apparently four stroke is far more reliable?

I can go see it for you if you want, before you travel. Just incase it’s a dog made to look good! It’s only 5 mins from my door.

That would be awesome mate, you clearly know more about boats than me anyway and it’s great to have an additional opinion, Mark does sound a nice guy (don’t all salesmen) says the engine gets tested and serviced at LM marine I think he said🍻

How long does it take to run out to the buxey? There is a speed limit along the Burnham stretch I believe?

Essex marina is no wash so I stay right out in the middle and burnham is a strict 8 knot but there are no floating moorings there now so I ignore it, I have been pulled by CHA there though for speeding🤣🤣

  10. Haha decent boats are like codling at the moment, in truth if I had bought a boat with a two stroke on it I had every intention of putting a 4 stroke on next year, so Indirectly I’ve saved myself money anyway, they want £250 to deliver it from Southampton I think I’ll pay, I’m really interested to see what fuel burn will be like Im doing 70 litres at the minute from bridge marsh to Buxey with a bit of moving about up there.

That boat had sold, you are right though it was an evinrude 60 2 stroke with 400 hours on it, I’ve paid a deposit on the explorer elite now that has a Mercury 60hp 4 stroke with 155hrs on it, fully serviced and comes with full print out whatever that is lol, it can’t be no worse than my Smokey 55 mariner I run on the Mayland that is one noisy engine, and not terribly reliable lol.

I use the loudness on that engine as an excuse why I don’t catch fish sometimes🤣🤣 they hear me coming out of bridge marsh

  13. I meant he did buy another boat that being the Arvor he bought that brand new but sold it after we lost mum more or less, they are a great boat I favour the jeanneau but they are still up there, I think the fella who has it now offered to buy it for good money before it was actually for sale but he caught dads interest, and the rest is history as they say, quick question while I’m rabbiting on what sort of fuel economy different is 2 stroke vs 4?
