Jed Stone reacted to Andy135 in Starting Battery
12.2v should be enough to turn the starter. Check your connections.

Jed Stone reacted to Andy135 in Charge splitter
I have a Blue Sea Add-A-Battery kit on my 165, which comes with a VCR. I find it to be a fit-and-forget solution to twin battery charge management. Well worth it in my view.

Jed Stone reacted to Andy135 in Transducer Cable
I've never done it, but in theory it's just a couple of connections at either end of each strand of the cable. If you try it, make sure you match the cable strand gauges and use the best waterproof connectors you can.

Jed Stone got a reaction from Saintly Fish in Sea anchors
I have it attached to the transom on a rope about 3m long, the basket has a small float attached on the inside so the top is on the surface or just below and the basket catches the tide

Not really a rudder although you can use your rudder to offset your boat when at anchor, this is more to keep her laying with the tide if you have a side wind

This is what a Nmea2K backbone looks like ............
You will need a T connector for each device and an extra one for the power. Don't forget the 'terminators' at each end and ideally (not essential) keep the 2k drop cables to the backbone as short as possible. I doesn't matter which manufacturer of T connector you use, they all meet the same spec and are interchangeable ............

Jed Stone reacted to Andy135 in Wrecking- East Coast
We attempted to anchor a local wreck about a month ago but didn't bother in the end due to the swell. My plan was to keep it simple and use a basic running ledger - less tackle to lose in the wreck or amongst the debris.
I also planned to use a chum tube to get a load of scent into the wreck to draw the fish out. Might be worth considering?
