  1. tight lines - cold but cracking day for it!
  2. haha - you just keep everyone in line - leave the techy stuff to the underlings?
  3. i looked for a shore angling equipment section and there wasn't one - this felt the closest - there was one about stinky baits..... but that would have been wrong too. feel free to move it to fishy humour if that's more appropriate!
  4. so heres the thing - I grew up using a multi - without brakes or any assistance other than my thumb - i had to stop the weight just before touchdown to avoid a birds-nest - as a rsult i used FS at night - I now have a shiney magged multi - but no idea what it can and cant do - do i not need to stop it with my thumb then? i eat a lot of carrots but i have no chance of seeing a lead touch down in the dark even if i can only cast 20yrds 🤣
  5. I know you will say Shimano Aero/ultegra etc etc but i'm after a decent sub £100 fixed spool reel for general shore fishing - to replace my cheap starter reel i was thinking penn rival longcast 6000 Diawa shorecast 6000 Okuma surf 8000 Shimano beastmaster akios fury FX8
  6. and clutching a warm Bombay Bad Boy pot noodle Jon - surprised you havent mentioned that option....
  7. welcome @MikeyB- ever come round the head into weymouth/portland?
  8. ive just turned it on now on high and its bloody warm - if it stays like that for 5 hours it'll certainly be a good call!
  9. i have a Thaw Rechargable hand warmer = havent used it yet - but its supposed to provide up to 10hrs of heat, has 3 heat settings and also also a power bank - usb rechargable. low temp 38-46 - 10hrs med temp 45-53 - 7hrs high temp 52-60 5hrs not waterproof - but looks good!
  10. you've been uninvited! how rude!
  11. um i went fishing on my bday - on my boat....? that's what I wanted to do..... anyway my hamster is now a jehova so no drama for the next one!
  12. its always someone's cousin's hamsters bahmitsva or something......
  13. oh yes - there she is..... 😋
  14. I was waiting for CJ all day on that beach - she never showed up ......
  15. yes true - although if a charter skipper wont go out - we shouldn't be going out! guess if you trailer your boat you could choose location based on weather - and get out of the wind/swell - there's def a plus side there!
  16. nothing wrong with surfers - but you do need to know the conditions, tides, rips and reefs. important to gain local knowledge ahead of paddling out - no shame in asking. looks hairy there though you're right!! I pulled a guy out of the surf once, he looked in trouble and when i asked if he needed help he sheepishly gargled "yes" - i put him on my board and paddled him back in.
  17. I like squid - but I wouldn't be sub'ing a roast either!
  18. I have a friend with a lovely smartliner he bought new - he's retired so has no restrictions on days/times, he has 2 friends to split fuel with, and lives walking distance to the marina, but he is also considering selling up and doing charter trips instead - it does make sense, but then you have to plan ahead, your at the mercy of the skipper, and cant just take a quick evening session at short notice.
  19. SIBs and spears? really? i wouldn't..... id be left with a deflated feeling lol.
