ive heard of people putting pig iron in colvics, but also stability can come from the bilge keels - not sure of your set up below the waterline but i've seen various shapes of bilge keel/skegs - the larger the surface area the less rolling side to side surely.

going to give this a go when i go for the gilt heads in portland harbour - i was going to use a plastic bottle tied up off the bottom on a bit of rope with a large weight

thats a cracking view from school - id have been in trouble for daydreaming all day lol!

for me it all depends on wind direction - weymouth bay is sheltered from the W and SW if you stay close in - but no good in an easterly. if its 20mph or more i wont go - 15mph and off the land fine, 15mph and blowing into the bay no-no ender 10mph any direction i'll go. Swell and tides also an impact - i went out once in a light to no wind yet there was a heavy ground swell running onto the bay - so we anchored inside portland harbour - lovely flat calm day - only to be met with the same swell later on the way back across the bay - would have been very uncomfortable at anchor in the Bay Windy App will show you wind, swell and chop!

All went down hill from there though! Just hoping salah returns fit for 90mins and bangs in a few!

@daio web - just to fill you in on this long tedious joke.... i have a slow boat (fact - Colvic 20 witha Buhk DV20) 6knots max - but i catch all the fish - the others must be jealous of my catch rate and so therefore take the pi55 out of my lack of speed = turns out they're too busy going so fast they either miss the fish on their finders or simply cant afford fuel to go out that often 🤣 (but i love the attention really!)
