  1. still better to be out than home - we found the wind much stronger than forecast - especially in the morning - both days it backed off after lunch.
  2. awesome - my mate had a spur this weekend too - lovely fish and a great fight! nice fishing!
  3. unconfirmed weight as we didn't weigh it - but estimate 4-5lb - i know its my biggest anyway! 23rd Jan - Adamant bank - whole squid elasticated on. had a big pull down on my rod, but missed it - it spat the bait - but knowing it was a fresh bait and tied on well with elastic I left it down there and waited patiently for it to return - it duly did - bang - decent scrap lots of head shakes, dives and pulls - great fun!
  4. First ever boat caught pollock - not huge by any standards, but my personal biggest at 2lb. Caught in portland harabour entrance, on very old tatty mackerel tinsels. 22nd Jan - early morning flooding tide - put up a good fight considering i was expecting mackerel!
  5. Adamant bank, 22nd Jan - total surprise - wasn't expecting one. my first at 4lb. Fell to Mackerel strip in about 70ft of water - static not drifted. absolutely buzzing with that! tasted delicious!
  6. absolute stonkers mate! more than makes up for the blanks i bet!
  7. awesome trip - some very nice fish there! well done!
  8. WOW - what a weekend - given the forecast we decided to head out to the Adamant on Sat and Sunday - both trips on my friends boat Seadog - a Benateau Antares 710. Target Big rays and whiting - anything else a bonus met at 7am and headed out at first light armed with frozen mackerel, squid, cuttle, and pot noodles, We first tried for fresh mackerel around portlands first entrance, no mackerel but i bagged my PB pollock at 2lb taken on some scraggly old tinsels that i refuse to throw out (you know the ones we all have em) - delighted to have a PB on the boat before 9AM and dinned sorted! we gave up on the mackerel after half an hour and made the 45min long steam out tot he adamant - dropping anchor on top of the bank. in about 60-70ft water, decent tide running - 12ox leads or heavier needed. Tim soon pulls up a slab of a blonde - pushing 13.5lb we then get into the whiting - many over 1lb - some to 2lb - the bigger ones taking the big bottom baits. this continued the the rest of the tide, we ended on 7 large keepers and lost count of the smaller ones. once the tide turned we settled nicely out of the cool NE wind, but the fishing slowed down. I was getting a few light taps on my lighter rod, hoping for a ray i left it to develop, and was soon into a decent fish - giving a few head knocks, but kiting up a bit i suspected a ray, but oh no - we all got very excited when we say a decent turbot rising tot he surface - a quick scramble for net and it was aboard - my first ever and PB turbot - of 4lb. Stunning fish and deffo dinner - the pollock got relegated to the freezer! that was the last noteworthy fish of the day. I filleted the keepers on the way in and shared the whiting with friends and neighbours - keeping the pollock and turbot to myself. Sunday we met again at the marina but chose to head straight to the adamant - anchoring again on the top. Tim was soon into the first fish which gave a spirited fight and tangled 3 other lines - lots of swearing got the 8lb angry spurdog in the boat - put in a flexi tub while we sorted the tangles, it was soon released. a lovely fish! we continued to catch loads of small whiting but only had 3 keepers and the dogs seemed more ravenous that saturday. Tim had a small spotted ray on the turn of the tide the fishing picked up again - runing out of mackerel we switched to squid and this seemed to help. I had a huge pull down on my smaller rod in the holder, on a whole squid - but by the time i had got hold of it the fish had spat the bait - knowing to leave it down there sure enough a minute later it was back - bang - my PB smoothound - we didn't weight it, but i'm estimating 5lb. the bait survived and went back down, only to get me a small Spotted ray - a very angry one! Tim finished the day with a tiny smoothie Pup. I went home delighted, exhausted, and cooked up some Cajun baked turbot for tea!
  9. im actually looking forward to all the catch reports on Monday - looks like a good forecast for most - i'm targeting big rays and whiting (no cod for me)
  10. i was going to say that but didnt want to be mean.
  11. haha busted 🤣 I actually had the clearance before then........
  12. @GPSguru- i cant help with the electrical fault - but socks full of cat litter will soak the water out the carpet nicely - i've done this on the floor of my beetle which had rain get in via a blocked sunroof drain - you have to keep refreshing them but they soak it up nicely, i also use these for condensation in the camper van.
  13. ive just secured clearance for both days ......... i wonder what she has planned...........
  14. made even more painful due to the long back story....... i'll never get that 30seconds back........
  15. not the points that i hoped for - considering i used my wildcard to get a full squad of double game weekers i should have been on 100+ = however a Spurs and a watford game got cancelled reducing them to 1 game and i had 4 players (across the 2), plus Ronaldo didnt play for one of his. but that's the risk of playing your wildcard - had I not - i'd have to of invested 4 points as i have a few out on international duty, and wouldnt have had many on a double game week. but yeah some good points for others and you all still have your wildcard to play! roll on this week - teams in by tomorrow!
  16. looks like a cracking day out! nice work!
  17. sorry guys I said on whatsapp I couldn't do last weekend of March - its my B-day weekend and as much as id love to go fishing its highly likely I will have family visiting/expecting me to be around I thought I was off the list? sorry! 😬
  18. last weekend she went home to watch Wycombe v oxford - cost me a tank of fuel and a bag of snacks. still cheapaer than a charter though!

  20. weekend looks like a double header down here.......... just hope the Mrs is busy......
  21. i'd be happy with a bass of that size - was a cracking day down here in weymouth - light frost in the morning, unbroken blue skies all day and not a breath of wind - had the windows open at home for a while! I bet it was a bit fresh out at sea though!
