  2. all done and packed away in the bait freezer in the shed while she's at work - in total 6 takeaway boxes of squid and a few sandwich bag "grab packs" - plus Cuttle, razor, Crab, Lug and squid - plus the 40 odd mackies i'm all set for a winter on Chesil!
  3. i'd assume the big ships don't want to hit the Varne Bank - so just by being there you are safe! 🤣 not that i'd feel safe lol!
  4. had a delivery - now to sperate 5Lbs of stinky squid on my lunch break!
  5. love turbot - i've not had much chance to get out on the turbot banks - and they still elude me, but I am lucky enough to have a fishing mate who doesn't eat fish........ he gave me is 8Lb turbot earlier in the year and it was delicious!
  6. annoyingly we went to the seafront so i could see just how glassy it was on the Saturday 😞 - if it wasnt her 40th birthday id have gone out! had a banging carvery on sunday though!
  7. that's why i like fantasy football - i'm not a huge footie fan, but this adds a bit more excitement to the weekend, it gets you involved in more games that just your fav team. yeah i missed it this weekend!
  8. from the boat simple running ledger or a 2 hook flapper for bream - simps from the shore a simple pennel rig, ledger for flatties, or 2 hook flapper. Simps from the pier float rig, spinning, or you guessed it - 2 hook flapper! simps obvs add beads and sequins when targeting specific fish. no need to overcomplicate though!
  9. ps. glad im not in the office.......... 😮
  10. before he turned vegan he was well up for it........ they did all come out on the boat to see the cruise ships, with their 2 kids but i didn't get a chance to drop a sneaky lure over the side..... they did go crabbing though........
  11. Saturday looks good here - but i think we have non fishing friends staying........
  12. yeah i saw you had a nightmare at the back! you could of done with martial coming on too!
  13. i was a bit disappointed with my week - but only as i made the wrong captain choice - i captained Antonio and he should have had a good week against Brentford - but they are on a roll. Salah got me some good points, and I should have left him as captain - but my stand out was Tim Krul in goal I've always rated him as a good keeper, and being in newly promoted Norwich - i thought he was a good bet as a) hes cheap, and b) will be very busy in goal - keepers lose points for letting in goals, but gain points for saves - so an average keeper will earn average points, a busy keeper will repay the goals he lets in with points for saves. However - he's been letting in too many goals so far this season - its a fine line to get right and i was waiting for him to come good BUT - this weekend he got a clean sheet against burnley and did 5 saves, and earned bonus - 9 points for him! Ronaldo only played half an hour (likely rested because he had a Champions league game in the week) - one thing to look out for is rotation - during busy weeks the big teams that compete in other comps mid week have enough players to rotate and rest their key players in games deemed less important. this sometimes influences my captain choice.
  14. i'm hoping for a big turbot then - round and flat - could win both categories with one fish 🤣
  15. never caught flounder on a float before - but i used to pull loads out of the river medina as a kid...... bigguns too.... my go to setup was a weight on a sliding ledger, white plastic spoon, 4" trace, loads of beads and rag worm (Stainless spoon if i was lucky enough to get one for christmas)
  16. I did say from the start I will deduct my week 1 points at the end - but yes very close - a good battle with places changing each week!
  17. I was surfing once at Compton Bay IOW, and we were all ordered out of the water, and marched up the road while the MOD detonated an unexploded bomb on the beach (they brought it there to detonate) - great sight to see, but the raining shingle not so much fun! I've also seen one done by the French navy when returning from Le Mans - the ferry was diverted to a safe distance, but timing was perfect as we passed.
  18. looks like you had an awesome week! nice one!
