  1. hmm favorite fish - tricky as i've only got back into shore fishing in the last 18 months and only just got a boat - I do enjoy mackerel on a simple metal lure and very light gear, Garfish on the the float are awesome fun, I used to love flatty bashing in the rivers..... going forward i'm looking forward to targeting plaice and bream, and bass on the lures.
  2. I never believed they were crab, but didnt know what they were - used to love them as a kid - used to spend my pocket money on them instead of sweets! might revisit them.....
  3. i've heard of mussels stuffed in squid - never tried it though! anything stinky and fishy will work if tied with elastic surely? anyone tried crab sticks?
  4. one kidney shouldnt affect my immune system, (it does make me a cheap date 🍻 aka 2 pint Mike) i get that i should take it - but shouldn't it go to someone more needy first?
  5. I had a voicemail from my docs yesterday to call me up for the jab - not sure how I feel about it - I'm 43, and seemingly fit and healthy - I did have a kidney removed due to cancer 4 yrs ago but needed no further treatment - just waiting for the 5 years all clear in Dec - could it be because I'm still within the 5 yrs of the Op? I wasn't told to Isolate/Shield, or told I was high risk before so why am I being called up? or are they doing it alphabetically and they've reached the Fs?
  6. yeah the mackerel, not me - wouldn't be out after dark and if I was I wouldn't be on the forum - id be calling for help lol!
  7. "so I heard......" - my friend was pulling them in on saturday! along with a 19lb thorny!
  8. I just cant get my PB2 done due to lockdown = but if I can buddy up with someone experienced I'd go out - practice anchoring, chuck a line in for a few hours and see how i get on! i cant wait!
  9. I have now ordered rope for my anchor, Alderney ring and buoy, coastal flare pack - and had my lifejackets tested/inspected.got all the rods/reels/tackle.just a few bits left to get like spare fuel can, first aid kit, tools, tuff tubs, buckets and of course the tea and bacon sarnie making gear!
  10. still coming in off portland harbour!
  11. why does cornwall get all the plaudits? plenty of 8 legged "King Chesil crabs" round here........
  12. awesome mate! memories to last a lifetime!
  13. exactly why I got into following Wycombe Wanderers - it was extremely accessible - they were league 2 at the time and it was £10 a ticket (standing) and there were lots of away games within an Hour or two drive - would have watched Southend and Colchester, at Adams park!
  14. yeah put the two together and you got me! the next best thing I got is Tim Flowers signature on a saints ball (with the rest of the team at the time)
  15. nothing beats Le God surely..... nice one though!
  16. partly being land locked in high wycombe ...... 🤪 drives you to do something! - now I live in weymouth I doubt we will go so much - too busy fishing! But mostly as my Girfriend and her dad started going again (having gone years ago) - and while I stayed home to watch rugby/do some gardening etc, I soon started tagging a long and enjoyed it! I used to be firmly in the camp that didn't understand grown men running around a field chasing a ball - but now I've travelled 3hrs plus for an away game, met the players and manager, and even occasionally wear the shirt! its like all things once you get into it, you get into it. me and Bayo Akinfenwa, and me and the legend that is Matt le Tissier below:
  17. I only really got into it in later life, ive followed Southampton all my life as I grew up on the IOW and my uncle was a saints fan, never went to any games or really followed it on TV until about my 30s - but in the last few years i started going to Wycombe wanderers matches (as i lived in wycombe until recently) and the experience of live football is something else. 8,000 people gathering for a common cause and experiencing the elation and disspointment in equal measures - awesome! id say it also gives people something to look forward to, some common ground to chat about, and an excuse to go to the pub! its social! I have no interest in cricket, tennis, athletics, golf, but theres plenty who do! and I get it! following football is a hobbie, and an extension of your friends and family network - much the same as fishing, sailing, rambling, bird watching, modifying cars, or even those lycra clad cyclists!
  18. plus we should have had a goal, that wasn't offside, and it wasn't a 2nd Red. we've been top of the league, beaten liverpool, and had a pretty good season so far - this is merely a bump in the road. we still have ings, adams, JWP, and now Minimino - just need to shore up our defence!
  19. at least they will stop harping on about the Leicester result now. I used to have a drink every time they mentioned the Leiciecster result during a game - I was hammered by half time - i'll be double drunk now! We march on - losing is losing- its only 3 points whether it was 1.0 or 9.0 results still the same.
  20. im just going to try and catch one this year 🤪
  21. welcome Steve!! lovely boat!
