Saturdays are northerly turning westerly. Will this not be a good direction for that area as it is here in the Solent?
Haven't a clue really, but if the wind is stronger than the tide it won't be easy getting a good drift over the wreck I wouldn't have thought

Ok got it. I got a 50% off code emailed to me so just wondered if it's worth the extra dosh.
Will that discount code work multiple times, or is it just unique to you

Have a wreck trip booked on "Spot on" out of Brixham this Sat, small tides but may be a tad too blowwy
If the weather plays ball, I shall be slow pitch jigging my little arse off
Will also be taking some bait as the last trip produced some very good Whiting on baited muppets/feathers

Bluey is a pretty good bait for Rays, bound together with some dirty squid
Although they seem to take anything in the Bristol channel
Crab does the business with Smoothies, they will also take squid and fish baits
Rag/squid for Bass
Black Lug, Blow Lug, Rag, whole dirty squid (or any combination) for Cod
The upper BC is coffee coloured, so scent is key

Sounds a great weekend, good news on the bream staying around all winter too, cracking fishing on light gear

I was always digging up old bottles, clay pipes etc from the old Victorian/Edwardian tips near me (also bullets and the odd shell from an old firing range that dates back to the Boer war)
10 yr old me would've pissed my pants at finding that
Actually 52 yr old me probably still would
EDIT
Are you sure it's not a tooth

Just sounds like a confidence issue, I was the same back in 2015/16.
If I had been on the boat with you, I would have fished SPJ right through, and I can pretty much guarantee that my jig would be Blue Silver, or Blue pink (Blue white jigs are hard to come by)
Yes I agree, I should've stayed on spj all day and persevered given the small tide

No fishing for me for the foreseeable either, daughter no2 has bought a house and has decided the layout of the rooms upstairs need altering
Been knocking down black ash blockwork and coming home looking like Al Johnson
Busy in work for the next couple of weeks, so no mooching off to go fishing midweek either by the looks
Never mind, once she's gone there's just one left to go, but she's dug in like an Alabama tick and unlikely to be flying the nest anytime soon

IIRC @jonnyswamp went wrecking out of Dartmouth on Monday ................ what did you catch and how far out did you need to go ?
Out of brixham and we did around 90 miles all told
Only around 15 Pollock between the 10 of us some nice whiting came up over slack that fell to baited feathers/muppets
-
Not the first time, but certainly no expert, more an enthusiastic learner
I switched to spj on slack water and for about an hour or so after, there wasn't much coming up apart from pout and whiting on bait at that time
When the tide picked up I went back to lures
Probably a combination of technique, type of lure, no tide and lack of fish

At least you got out Nick. Very envious. A few fish and a day on the water - what's not to like? 👍👍
Yes, it wasn't a disaster by any means (for me at least)

A decent fish on my spj set up, I'm out of Brixham tomorrow and tides are small so.......
Not much to report, a poor trip with some anglers not getting anything worth taking home
I ended the day with 4 Pollock, 2 around 3-4lb, 1 that was 7 maybe 8lb and one around 10-12lb all on a blue and white 6" sidewinder (plus a dozen or more Pout)
Tried the spj kit for an hour or so and only picked up a small Whiting, though there were some good 3 and 4lbers came up on baited feathers/muppets over slack
Don't know the final tally, but only around 15 Pollock I believe
Quite a few of the wrecks we visited were netted, the drawback of small tides I suppose

@jonnyswamp if I use my Nomura Kanji spinning rod coupled with a Maxel rage 25, do you think that'll do?
I don't go wrecking often so don't want to be spending a fortune.
Do they do them Left hand wind?
The reel I bought was LH, can't help much with your rod as I'm a SPJ novice myself and haven't heard/seen a Kanji sorry
But I believe, as with all types of fishing, if you fish with a bit of confidence you'll do OK no matter what you use

I was part of a syndicate shoot a few yrs ago and that was pretty much the rule there too
We had a couple of guinea fowl that were £40 IIRC
Not really hard to miss either, they were like a fat basket ball flying over you
