  1. I'm after a different 10ft ish spinning rod for Bream I have a 10ft Ugly stik spinning rod and although it does the job, it's a bit too forgiving, it bends from the butt I've been looking at a Tubertini Talaxa 3.0M with twin tips Has anyone got any experience with this rod ?
  2. By the way, that hand holding the Puffer, it aint mine He got all his fingers
  3. Yes, big stingers apparently and Tope ! One of the guys I was with (a mate) was there (Tenerife) a year or 2 back and him and around 20 others were watching a large sheet of ply skimming around the bottom of the marina There were actually a lot more fish in the marina, some looked like a Bream, some small Barracuda and some absolute monster Mullet Very close to doubles
  4. A bit of a scrabble getting my gear sorted (didn't have any rigs made, or stuff for sandwiches etc) but the forecast was good, so Weymouth bound we were Straight out to just west of the Bill to get some Mackerel (put 30 or so in the bait box) then a short move out to anchor up for some Bream Plenty of action for all of us with fish up to around 2.5 lb, razor clams outfishing squid strips by quite a bit, even outfished the prawns covered in chilli and garlic sauce ! Paul had a good day on prawn covered in chilli and garlic back a few months ago on the Skerries after Plaice, so now it goes on every frigging trip (it stinks) Had a move to the race for a crack at the Bass on artificials next, this produced around a dozen in all, with only a few under 45cm Next up was dragging some strips of the earlier caught Mackerel along the Shambles This gave Charlie Chuckles a pair of Blondes, with the biggest going 8 kilos (skipper thought it was 8lb, then realised his scales were set to metric) With a fair bit of moaning regarding the lack of flatties coming aboard (also read lack of skill) we went back on the Bream on a different mark Loads getting consistently caught by all, then it went a bit hay wire I was bringing in a run of the mill sized Bream, when it felt like I'd hit a snag (not really possible 60ft up off the bottom) then the snag screamed to the right and was gone This immediately happened to Charlie Chuckles and then to another guy who actually played a small (4ft ish) Porgie, much to the delight of the guys on the (too close) boat on our right, the thing came out of the water a couple of times then was gone Along with most of the Bream for the next 20 mins or so We did send a small live Bream out under a float, but the shark had long gone A few more Bream for us, then time to pack up This was probably the biggest Bream of the day, though there were quite a few around that size Charlie Chuckles with a rare smile and a Bream I'll try and take more photos next time When the fishing is good, I find it hard to put the rod down and pick up the phone
  5. I seem to have it sorted, if I copy and paste the link directly into the post it works I'm nearly as tech savvy as jonc, if I loose a few more of the grey matter, I'll be right up there
  6. Booked a 4hr trip on Happy Hooker out of Puerto Colon, 9am til 1pm 4 of us with 4 other randoms already booked Fruitlessly trolled about, zig zagging our way up the coast for 1.5 hrs, then anchored in 130 M and dropped down some baited sabiki type lures on a short fixed spool rigged rod Caught loads of these And a few other small, local sort of things Not exactly enthralling dragging those up from nearly 400ft Then on the way back, two ratchets start screaming with this coming in on one rod And the other lure got spat before the rod could be picked up All in all not brilliant, but not a bad way to while away a morning
  7. @Andy135 I'm having trouble uploading images from flckr and amazon pictures When I copy and paste the image url into the box, when I press post, the box turns red and nothing happens Any ideas how to help ?
  8. Excellent trip fair play, I'm hoping to get out Friday night, into Saturday morning There seems to be a small weather window between 7pm Fri and 7am Sat, if that stays I shall be out Westerlies as well, so will stay around the Rannie/coral area for a bit of shelter if it blows up I WILL get a double this year
  9. When you get back to cbyc, you can have a look at my heater and set up Just let me know when
  10. 40/60lb Amnesia and silicon tube or tie the top hook in place The tied method is ok if you're using the same length/size bait. silicon tube if you're trying various baits But to be honest, I usually use the same method as you, a few wraps around the top hook shank After a few trips the line is usually fraying and needs to be replaced anyway Especially after a couple of Rays or Smoothies
  11. Email the yard manager, Simon and see of you can book a slot He's always been helpful with me And a packet of biscuits to all the yard boys can go a long way Are you still a member of CBYC
  12. That's a result, Penarth isn't the best to get lifted out etc CBYC is spot on fair play, £75 per lift out/in and a couple of quid a week for the hire of the jacks/cradle As you know, it used to be £55 each way and the jacks/supports were free. But after the use of oil drums and bits of 3 x 2 as supports were banned, the club bought a load of new jacks etc and have to get the money back somewhere I think it's still one of the cheapest clubs in the Bay overall ?
  13. Did you give up your berth in CBYC when you moved to Milford ? If so, where have you managed to get in for the winter
  14. We were on that boat yesterday, skipper spoke highly of Robson green, said he was a good crack and was up for the banter and piss taking
  15. Does any one know the "colour" or code of the white that's used on a 2004 Arvor 250 hull I have some chips that I want to repair and also the swim platform has had a hard life too and could do with a touch up
  16. RTU5024 GSM Gate Opener Relay 900MHz/850MHz/1900MHz Door Access Free Call Switch | eBay Get yourself one of these as well, a fair bit cheaper than the Eberspacher version I've had one for about 12 months and it's been a godsend in the cold I use a free Asda pay as you go sim and put the minimum amount on it, as long as the sim is used at least once every 180 days it stays activated When I get up, I send the heater a text and by the time I get to the boat all the windows are defrosted and the cabin is 20 odd degrees Very easy to wire in too
  17. Have booked a 4hr trip on happy hooker out of Puerto colon tomorrow morning (sunday 10th) Spoke to the skipper the other day and apparently its quiet at the moment, with just a few smaller species beibg caught He said on Tuesday they had a big tuna on for nearly 2.5 hrs before it spat the hook, wasted morning for all concerned no doubt So looks like I get to pay 65 euros for the pleasure of getting a blank in the sun Will report back tomorrow if worthwhile
  18. There's grabbing a bargain and pulling someone's pants down I do a bit with auctions and am familiar with how bids etc work 👍
  19. Agreed, but is it worth the hassle of trying to rob someone of their boat The seller obviously isn't ebay savvy and in my opinion, to try and get it for that sort of money is a bit shitty Put yourselves in the sellers shoes BTW, i have no connection/interest in the boat/seller
  20. In the words of else, let I gooooo Can't believe you think someone would let that go for 100 quid ffs Would you ?
  21. Kinell, could've ben nasty Has there been any dredged up that have detonated in the nets ?
  22. Have tried that, didn't really make much difference, moving the arm socket around the splines just causes the wiper to wipe fresh air or go over the central aluminum strip joining the 2 screens
  23. Some sort of auto sensor, I'll take it out and clean it, then try it in a small tub before fitting back under the prop shaft........ If it aint fooked
