Have had the 3rd new alt tested and it's good
When power is removed from the red wire terminal (under test) it starts upping the voltage to 15.4, fine when connected
So sounds like you were on the button with your diagnosis suzook
That red wire going to the reg/rec, does it com from the back of the ignition switch ?
All the alternators came with 2 flying leads, red and purple, which connect to the wiring harness via bullet connectors
The fault/break will be between the connector and the ignition switch?

Hi mate, yes I remember this from the other site.....
A wiring diagram would come in real handy around now.....
Can you get a voltage reading from the wire that connects to the battery terminal on the alternator and a voltage reading across the battery?Hi, we were getting the same reading of 15v on both, or do you mean just testing the alt cable when not connected to battery
These pics are one of the new ones and the original
The alternator feed to the batteries went through a heat sink first, then on to the split charge unit
It made no difference when the heat sink and charge unit were bypassed, nor when a direct earth was run from the block to the battery

Great looking boat, there is one the same opposite my berth. It makes my boat look tiny.
You have loads of deck space and a bog.I've only used the bog twice in anger, both times with my legs out the door
Was debating between the 230 or 250 when looking to change and went for the w/c option as Mrs swamp had plans to spend some time aboard and wouldn't want to squat over a bucket
She hasn't even seen the boat, never mind shat in it

Agree, doubt gets planted in your mind, so you go for the dearest because you think it's the best and it quite often isn't

It's a 230 horse black mercruiser, is this oil specifically designed for high load engines (boat) as opposed to plant engines which basically runs hydraulic pumps ?
Would like to see the specs of the different brands, not the cheap motor factor stuff, the well known brands

Bit of a follow on from fishys thread and been asked countless times no doubt
But, is the Quicksilver 15w 40 "heavy duty marine" oil any better than a high quality 15w 40 that's used in plant that can cost hundreds of thousands of quids
A mate is a plant fitter and can rescue some for me (supposedly top quality)
Is it really worth the £8 per litre for the Quicksilver or have we all been brainwashed

Its a church on the side of Cardiff Bay and its Norwegian

Was going to upload some pictures after she was cleaned and all the timber work done, but the pics are too big again
Anyway, with a clean bottom and a refurbed prop, she did 24.8 knts in Cardiff bay with 2 on board and full tanks, may have squeezed 25 if we didn't have to stop to avoid the norwegian church

Just in case anyone is confused, I copied and pasted part of the original post from the other site rather than type the whole thing again
