  1. What was the problem for you, did you have to replace anything
  2. I tried that last week, returned to correct orientation whilst calibrating, then went back to 90 degrees out when supposedly finished I'll give it another try in the bay when I get chance
  3. I don't know mate, it all coincides with me doing a factory reset a few weeks ago Next time I'm down, I'll try another reset and see what happens if no-one else can help EDIT I could well have turned something off (or vice versa) within the plotter settings whilst fucking about with it I suppose
  4. Haven't had a lot of time to get to the bottom of this with work and holidays taking priority But, managed to get out last week for a couple of hrs (no report as it's just dogs, rays, congers etc here atm) and had a play about with the system Remembering back to the original fault/problem, it only happened after I did a factory reset on all three mfd's, the 7410 xsv is fine, the other 2 (also Garmin) 5212 and 5012 developed this fault Found out how to reset the fluxgate compass (it should reset itself automatically apparently) so gave it a try Whilst underway with both screens showing the course to be approx 90 degrees out, I manually reset the compass and as it was going through it's resetting process (solid blue light) both screens rotated the course back correctly This only stayed like this for about 10 secs until the compass had finished it's reset (blinking blue light) then both screens went back to showing an incorrect course The 7410 xsv continues to work as it should, don't think this is connected to the fluxgate compass as course stays the same when resetting ? Any pointers ?
  5. I use 25lb straight through if in the Bristol channel, weed can gather on the leader knot and jam up in the top eye. A pita if you have a decent fish on If reefing or wrecking I always use a rubbing leader similar to GPS's reply I have had the mono snap on occasions if there's no real tide and the line gets caught around some coral or rough ground, but that's usually my fault for either letting too much line out or just being lazy and not keeping my eye on the ball
  6. I've got a fuse marked up as a fluxgate compass, is it anything on this photo ?
  7. If you mean switching the plotters off, yes I have, still the same I haven't got auto pilot
  8. Out on the 7.30 am lock to a bit of forecasted rain, plan A was a run up to the English side of the mid grounds and have go for a Bass or 2, but speaking to a charter skipper in the lock who's always been helpful (sharing marks advice etc) decided to buddy up and follow him across to Sand point for the usual dogs/hounds/rays (plan B) It soon became apparent that there was a storm over the area we were going, so parted company with the Charter boys and implemented plan A again Leaving the rain and wind behind us, we had the anchor down, rods out and kettle on by 8.30 Non stop here with Bass, Cod and Even Gurnard......plus dogs and rays Stayed here until high water, then moved over to the mouth of the Usk hoping for a Sole, again non stop with all of the above plus Ling and Wrasse but no Sole Watched a storm cross the Channel towards Cardiff (about 8 miles away from our spot) and the wind picked up swinging us side on making things a bit sloppy This was around 1.30, so with an ice box full of Bass, Cod, Ling etc, we pulled the pin and got the 2.15 inbound lock Pictures below Now, the more cynical among you may say that the above fish weren't all caught in the BC and that's your perrogative And the likes of @Odyssey and @daio web may say that all we caught were Dogs and Rays, they may be correct ........The storm picture was from yesterday though
  9. Usually keep phone in one of the cup holders and hasn't ever been an issue until now I'll try a reset again next time I go down
  10. It only happens on the 2 older plotters, fine on the newer one
  11. About 1200 quid Or run into a car transporter in the fog
  12. No, still in CBYC Took a trip up looking for a Sole or two, found loads of dogs and rays instead
  13. @daio web I think we're just outside you off Uskmouth ?
  14. Fucked about with my plotters whilst fucking about with my drowned radome and now the 2 older units are 90 degrees out when under way Altered settings to course up and heading up and stays the same, only changes when selecting North up What am I missing The newer plotter is fine
  15. Following up from my previous thread, I now need a new radome Must be Garmin (all other stuff onboard is Garmin and linked) Do I need 18" or 24" ? XHD, HD+, Phantom ? All my fishing is in the Bristol channel (which can be quite busy, but nothing like the English Channel) 99% use in daylight and fair weather Will the basic 18 GMR HD+ be ok ?
  16. Bit of an update Unplugged the radome and checked power cable, no power Only 4 bolts, so thought I'd remove the unit and take it to Lukes recommendation to see if they could power it up and maybe check functionality Lifted it free of the mountings and thought. christ this is heavy Got it on deck, turned it upside down and drained 2 gallons of rusty water through the hole on the top (that had a bit of tape over it) Just got it home and split it apart, it has had water in it for a good while by the looks of it Every thing rust stained and seized There was a plastic nut and a rubber washer floating around inside, was this once connected to a blanking plug that went through the hole in the top ? Anyway, new 18" radome required
  17. Haven't tried that yet, maybe tomorrow Been through the alphabet of expletives though
  18. Yes, every time I moor up I turn it off and every time I go fishing I turn it back on
  19. Puravida is a surf shop ? Couldn't find any reference to electronics on their website ?
  20. Thanks @daio web, I'll give him a call tomorrow when I'm down there Thanks @Odyssey I had a number from a guy in the club last year (maybe year before) I got talking to in the yard, may be one and the same
  21. The standard boat wiring isn't that bad, it's the networking cables between the plotters/radar etc I need a bit of time spent on
  22. I have spoke to them in the past and found them great, but this is more of an installation/wiring question or problem, rather than a technical issue I need someone who installs these systems regularly to have a look I'm going down tomorrow to go through some basic fault finding, will have to take panelling off to check/identify cables which will be a PITA Also to see if I actually have power going to the Radar, as noting is listed on any of the fuse boxes
