  1. You are going to need more sticks Brian, there's more electronics there than you could shake one stick at lol
  2. That's what I have, not sure if it works or not but it certainly looks good 👍
  3. In my view that's the wrong choice. Inshore a minority of boats have ais offshore the majority of boats/ships have ais (ships by law have ais) so if you're inshore in fog ais is not much help but every boat no matter what size is a target for Radar. Inshore ais is just a toy as its not a lot of help in the fog, that said I had ais and radar on my old boat and it is a useful plaything
  4. Radar is a waste of money until you need it. An example is, we were fishing on a glorious day some 30 miles from home and 20 miles offshore. Vis in the morning was brilliant come pm it was not very good at all with an estimated vis of about 10 metres. Coming home in pea souper without radar is not nice we would have been steaming at 5 or 6 knots taking us 6 hours maybe less if it cleared closer inshore. Being that far offshore there is very little chance of coming across small craft so radar we were able to cruise at 15+ knots without any worry. As we got closer in I knew there maybe some dive boats on a particular wreck and being able to see them on the screen and able to give them a wide berth was great. To be truthful we probably only use it in anger in fog, after dark or when trying to pinch marks (very useful for that lol). Whether its worth it I would say depends on the type of boating you do, how far you go offshore and how geeky you are but for me its worth it Hope that helps........a little
  5. Even Mr Phillips has posted "This does not look good" posts are up to page 3 (no pictures of babes though) with most comments backing our man
  6. John nakedness would never work here it was definitely financial inducements that worked, why else would I come to just exchange insults 👍
  7. Unfortunately a lot of the active members on here have been banned from there lol
  8. His full name is Norman Berry he used to be the owner/editor/producer of a free sea fishing rag called "Sea Angling News" distributed through tackle shops. He is also apparently a freelance reviewer of fishing tackle, I think he needs to purchase some glasses (should have gone to specsavers) Go nail him or his reputation
  9. Hi Jon, welcome here. Give us an indication of your budget and what you want and we will all chuck our recommendations at you. I know of one Explorer Elite with a very newish engine. He is asking top end but its been up for sale for a while so you never know there maybe a deal to be had. Its on findafishingboat.com
  10. The level wind parts are easy to service/replace. Remove the screw on the bottom of the line bar then remove the pawl (as said above) order a new pawl online then fully clean and reinstate the bar pawl and screw thingy. That should do it failing that find a decent plumber/bathroom fitter to do it for you
  11. Neil, no Dave is no longer a member of PBSBAC. Sadly due to his having cancer treatment he is no longer undertaking reel repairs. Hopefully when he is cured he will restart his business
  12. Nice colour, looks cool, that's about the end of my guitar knowledge
  13. Welcome Gary, enjoy the site and banter
  14. I think I may have trodden a similar path as Second Bite, here's my old tub
  15. Love both those boats, welcome to the mad House
  16. Yes drift the perimeter of the wreck as close to the bottom as you dare and hold on, they go like stink and as said above have some serious nashers My largest was just a baby at 24lb
  17. The only Ling I have had our way has always been well offshore ( 20miles) towards Portland/Weymouth Bay. All caught drifting on wrecks with bait instead of lures. That said I haven't given the local wrecks a go for any length of time, the knowledge of them being hammered puts me off spending much time trying
  18. Paints (not diy applied) are more robust than both wrap and gel coat + easier to touch up.. Awlgrip is supposed to be really good but a good paint job will be more expensive than a wrap. I have heard that even Sunseeker boats have boats painted in darker shades as the paints do not fade/chalk as much as gelcoat. My brother had a Sunseeker 48' Superhawk. That was wrapped and got damaged by the boatyard the first time they lifted it. He did however have the yard pay to have the boat re-wrapped
  19. This post reminds me of why I gave up beach fishing near 30 years ago lol, Thanks for post Andy
