Had a comp out on the boat from Burnham on Sea yesterday. Only 2 boats out but a cracking day at sea. First cast and my brothers uptider had the classic nod nod slack and it was fish on. The fish fought like a cod staying deep all the way to the boat banging away and I got the net ready more in hope than expectation. Couldn’t believe it when a nice double broke the surface. Steady fishing for the rest of the ebb with thornies, straps and dogs but as the tide slackened the the bites slowed. Dad was next in to a decent fish over slack water with a hound well into double figure. Once the flood started we were well off the mark so we repositioned. This was a good move as we caught steadily again with 3 Huss and another cod to me. Back on the beach my bro’s cod weighed 13-9 and got him second place and won the pools, my cod weighed 12-8 and took third while my dad won with his hound that went 14-8

That’s the issue worth my boat….
Im hoping to get further afield next year, maybe a long weekend in padstow or Newquay for big porgies, but I’m kind so limited by marinas/refilling options sadly. Maybe Ireland? 🤔🤔
What about Ilfracombe? Dan on Reel Deal has had a cracking run of porgies and a few threshers

Quality catches there Dicky! Very envious. Makes me wish I still had a trailer boat 👍👍
Where do you launch from in Fowey? The slip in the car park by the ferry?
Yes the slip next to the ferry, all tides access if you have a 4X4. It is nice to go to different venues every now and then and target something else.

Excellent dangling Dicky 👍
No giant macks when sharking ? There are a few about now. I saw some on Friday morning in lyme bay feeding with a pod or two of dolphins.
Those Pollock look tidy, that big one in the foreground must be close to a double.
Didn't see a giant mack all week, only had 6 baby ones lol. The biggest pollack was only around 7lb but good eating fish.

Took the boat down to Fowey for 5 days last week. Mixture of wrecking, sharking and inshore. 8 blues to over 100lb plenty of pollack and a bass off a wreck, some plaice from the harbour and loads of whiting when drifting for the sharks. Other fish caught were ballan and cuckoo wrasse, scad, pout, gurnard and mackerel (only 6 all week). Great time and hopefully back next year

Check out the Guy Cotten range, i have one of their smocks (grey one) and very waterproof so far.

Luke i think you could be right, i reckon there will be more threshers within 6-7 miles off the heads than 30 miles offshore.

Nice session, doesn't look to good for our trip on Tuesday.

Hi Dicky,
I saw the report that John put on Facebook. Looks like a good haul 🙂 Sole can be nightmare to find and very patchy but at least you had a few others to keep the rods busy 🙂
John? Do you mean Jamie? 😁

Nice one. I'm going sole fishing off a mates boat in the Bristol channel tomorrow for the first time, hope we do as well.

Worth a try if on your own boat but i don't think it would be to popular on a charter as likely to cause tangles if lots of other lines down.

Had a trip out on Pegasus skippered by Lewis Hodder yesterday, first time out with him for me. Forecast wasn’t great but the sea state was ok and it stayed dry all day with small periods of sun. Bream from the off mixed in with straps, pout, poorcod, small pollack and a few mackerel. When the tide reached full strength the fishing died and even after a move the fishing was poor for the afternoon. Still was a nice day on a new boat and one I will be back out on again.
