i have upgraded my ipad and phone and think it's awesome though haven't actually been to sea with it yet as only just done it a week ago. I have been on a charter boat which had it and the skipper raved about it. You can check the Navionics website to see if your plotter or tablet is compatible as my old ipad couldn't cope with the update.

Good effort. It does seem hard out there this week with only a handful of cod and the rays and conger absent, i'm sure they'll be back soon though.

Had yesterday off work so booked a day out on Reel Deal from Watchet marina. Forecast was poor with winds gusting to 40+ knt and rain but being from the south we had some protection from the land. First drop I had a cracking bite and after a few minutes and the fish staying deep, taking me all round the boat a nice unicorn broke surface. Dan swiftly netted it and at 12-6 I was well chuffed. Unfortunately it was downhill from there with just a few small thornies, straps and a single whiting and doggie landed by the crew
Fairly play to Dan the skipper we had 4 moves trying to find a few more fish and on the last Mark I found a codling around 4lb so happy days. By then it was dark, the wind had increased even more and rains coming straight at me so was glad when lines up was called and we had a 5 minute steam back to the marina.- GPSguru, ever optimistic, Andy135 and 4 others

i have a couple of Avets SX and MXJ i think. They're good reels but they have gone up a fair bit since i got mine and there are other reels for similar money now. When i got mine the £ was a lot stronger against the $ and they were only around £130, they're nearly double that now. The pinion bearings are a weak point but at around £5 no big deal to change when giving a service.

I use one for uptiding. Basically i use a short Portland rig around a foot long with the trace swivel trapped between 2 beads about 3 inches above the lead clip.

Like many others after seeing the weather for Wednesday and the lockdown coming I thought a short notice trip was in order. A quick call to Glen of Valkyrie charters resulted in a booking with Zac so a few phone calls later I had another 5 to fill the boat.
We started off on the bass but that was slow with just 1 to me. Hook down for the slack and it was fish from the off with blondes to 22lb, conger to 35 ish, Huss and spurs to double figures and a few whiting. Once the tide picked up it was back on the drift with just 1 more bass to me again around 6lb. There was also a Thornback hooked on an evolution eel in 2.8 knots of tide!!!
Great day in fab weather and just what I needed- Saintly Fish, Andy135, Geoff and 1 other
