First trip out for a few weeks and only the second of the year. Just a short one again over high with another club boat out. We both steamed about 10 miles to a bank on the edge of our old club boundaries to see if the hounds had turned up yet. We started on the very outer contour. Was a bit slow with a few dogs, straps and thornbacks and the other boat which was on top of the bank was faring better. As the tide eased we upped the anchor and shortened the rope out and repositioned closer to the bank. This improved sport with more of the same in greater numbers and also a small spotty for my dad and a nice hound 12lb + for my bro. Had heavy squall come through which dropped the temperature for the last couple of hours but overall a nice day out

Nice one, where were you out from and how big was the codling

Spreader bar with short 12" hooklengths or a single running ledger which i vary the length until i get bites. Ragworm, half a prawn cut lengthways tipped with a thin sliver of squid. This has worked for me on the skerries, shambles and out of portsmouth. Green and black beads with 1 or 2 small spinner blades .

Plenty of fish further down around Minehead/Watchet but we fancied a try for a cod as they were starting to show a bit from Portishead before they closed the lock again.

First trip out since mid November, just a short one over high. We went up channel a bit looking for a cod and failed miserably. Just half a dozen thornbacks and a strap. I blanked but my lad had a couple of thornies so was worth it just for that. Bit of swell at the start but flattened off a treat and with the sun out was a pleasant few hours out

I think i may have to take some of the blame on the weather. We got a new boat in mid November, got her wet the first weekend then haven't been out since. Got every thing crossed for this Sunday

First trip out on the new boat yesterday. Club comp with 5 boats and 13 anglers out. All looking for a cod or two and all failed 🤣🤣. We fished a few marks catching dogs, straps and thornbacks but a slow day overall for all. We did manage second and third on our boat so a few quid towards the bait and fuel and really happy with the new boat. No pictures as nothing worth photographing

Depends if you want the best or the best value. I would say Raymarine are the best followed by Garmin but the value is with Simrad. There are a lot of charter boats that are running Simrad now. But i'm certainly no expert.
