Are you sure it doesn't have a pitot sensor? have a you much experience of the Optimax, i would get a mariner/mercury mechanic to check it out

Crap. Not a lot to report really, launched in drizzle but still conditions with a flat sea. Tried 3 different marks for a few rays, dogs and a couple of straps. Wind got up very quickly after low water and turned pretty lumpy so made retrieval hard work. First trip out for a month so a bit disappointing really. No pictures as nothing worthwhile caught

For sale is our Sea Champion 18 which we’ve owned from new since December 2013. Powered by a Mariner Optimax 75 hp with service history. Under deck 60 litre fuel tank, large under deck locker storing twin batteries and isolator. Twin seats with storage underneath, 2 lockers in the transom and 3 more in the cuddy. Fishing canopy with detachable sides. Raymarine Dragonfly 7 Pro plotter/ sounder, Garmin 451s plotter/ sounder and Garmin vhf. Loads of rod storage/ rests, 4 on arch, 4 in transom, 4 on rails and 6 in the gunnels. 7.5 kg Bruce anchor and chain. This is a ready to fish package on a rollercoaster trailer, just changed the bearings and added new seats , only selling as buying a bigger boat £19,500

Out tomorrow from Burnham for a short one over high

I have a Guy Cotton Chinook smock, totally waterproof. I prefer thinner waterproofs and layer up accordingly. Floatation suits too bulky for beach and small boats, ok for charters where you have a bit more room.

Got the boat out Sunday for the first time since December for a club comp. First mark was a bank around 8 miles from launch but unfortunately the anchor kept slipping as it did with the other boats on the same mark. We upped anchor and moved closer inshore and was soon followed by the others. Here we sat lovely though fishing was very slow with just 3 thornbacks for me and 1 to my dad. As the tide eased we moved back out to the first mark and the anchor held lovely but again it was slow with just a few thornbacks to my brother and dad and a single conger. Just after the tide turned most of the other boats moved back up channel but we switched back inshore to the second mark as there had been a couple of codling caught there in the morning. Straight away my dad had a decent spotty so we popped it in a drum of water to keep alive for the weigh in. Fishing was again slow but dad came up trumps with a cracking cod of 12-6 and we had a few more thornies. At the weigh in my dads spotty went 4-13 and took first place, his cod took second and the pools so we collected a bit of $$$💰💰. Great to get out again even if it was a bit slow

UK Hooks used to do loads of moulds

A lockable cabin, better sea keeping, more space, more stability, our current boat is great and wouldn't swap it for any other 17-18 footer. Just feels like the right time to move up a little whilst still being towable.

Friday is only mid size tide so i would of thought would be ok. Don't fish there myself to often but the charters do sometimes, i think mainly on the bigger tides as there will be less tide in the bay. Kayakers were picking up some good cod a from there a few years ago but haven't heard of much lately from them.
