  1. For how often i change it i stick with J braid. In the grand scheme of fishing the saving is negligible over a couple of years and J braid is great to use and very reliable
  2. sounds grim, hope you feel better soon and are back out on the boat
  3. cheers guys, most of the cod caught in the club this winter have been 8-13lb but we've managed 6 codling the last 2 trips so maybe we may get a decent spring run of them this year, here's hoping.

    Wrecking

A few nice fish there mate well done.
  5. Just a short trip today over high water. Very slow with just 8 fish between 4 of us. A few fish dropped as well. 2 straps, 2 thornies and 4 codling
  6. Had a club comp last Sunday out of BoS. 5 boats with 12 anglers made it out. The sea was flat as a witches but it was overcast and chilly. Fishing was steady with a constant stream of thornbacks, congers and dogs. We found a couple of codling over slack but as the flood picked up so did the wind and after a couple of hours it was getting a bit lively so we retreated back to the river as did the other boats. Just a whiting there and a couple of missed bites. At the weigh in there were 5 double figure cod weighed in, none for us though but still a great day at sea.
  7. Feels quality, hope the wind drops soon so i can get out and try it!!
  8. General downtiding, gilling over wrecks and drifting banks mainly.
  9. As I haven’t fished for a while and it doesn’t look good for the foreseeable thought I would treat myself

    Boxing Day

Nice one, wish i could have got out yesterday as weather looks pants now till i go back to work.
  11. Keep an eye out on evilbay for an Abu suveran pro 4-10. the latest Suveran i think is 5-10 but haven't used one so can't comment. The beauty of the suveran and the Greys is the retractable butt which on boats makes them easier to use imo.
  12. That looks like the shittest boy band ever
  13. Has a mod edited my post ? I honestly don’t remember putting the sinking bit in ( I would have if I thought of it )
  14. We should be charging (sinking) all the Welsh boats that keep sneaking over to Minehead and stealing our cod
  15. 2 poor days fishing Friday 17th started off anchored off Brean Down. First cast missed a bite on the uptider , bugger. Second cast had an identical bite and fish on. This stayed deep all the way to the boat with some solid thumps so I asked for the net just as a nice cod broke the surface. Safely onboard it went 8-2 so happy with that. Next cast on same rod bumped a fish off, bugger again. Unfortunately it went downhill from there with a couple more marks tried and only 3 dogs and a strap between 3 of us so only 5 fish in 8 hours. Sunday 19th we had a club comp and only 2 boats made it out. Different mark today but fishing was still tough. Freezing cold and thick fog all day but a few more fish. Between the 3 of us we had around 10 dogs 8 rays a couple of straps and a whiting. The other boat found a couple of cod biggest 9-2 so they took the honours on the day
  16. What are you going after? Unless offshore wrecking then February is probably the worst month of the year from the south coast
  17. Were there any charter boats out on the overfalls? They have been bagging up on bass the last few days

    Solo Saturday

Well done again mate, cracking fish. There seem to be more tuna around now than there was all summer. The tagging skippers catches were getting better and better just as the program was coming to an end. With regards to the banning of beagle fishing is this in general or just when they are breeding as i know there has been pressure to stop fishing for them when in pup for a while.
  19. Fished out of Burnham yesterday and went to the same mark we had the cod off last month. Average day with loads of dogs, small eels and a few thornbacks. The highlight of the day was a hound of 12-8 ish for me that stayed deep right to the boat and got me excited for a bit. Big tide made for a lumpy sea as it pushed over the bank when it was running hard.
  20. Nice couple of trips, don't know if we will get down south again before the spring but if we do it would be nice to find a few silvers
  21. Rather you than me. Stay safe and i hope you catch a few
  22. Sounds like good day and great to hear there are a few bass back in the race. There are a few porgies around there this time of year after the bream it seems.
  23. What do they charge for a half day? looks like a nice way to spend a few hours.
