    Is there a hard and fast technique for doing this? Ie does the line have to go from spool to reel in a particular direction, and i mean the direction it leaves the spool not the direction you turn the handle to fill the reel. My line always seems to be a bit twisted, not a problem when a lead is on it, but can be a pain when tying knots.

    Free lining is the way ive been not catching them. It seems to work well.

    Actually the slipway is not free here pete. Users have to pay the harbour master for the use of it and the river. Im not sure if this can be done as a day ticket or annual harbour dues are required. Also, the carpark is no longer free, it was, up until the start of this year when the council decided that because people were staying at home for the summer and paddle boarding or kayaking more, they would charge and make more money for themselves!! Its the same at the carpark west of Lee on Solent.

    Ive got a LH abu original, ive not used it yet, it has a level wind though so not sure thatd interest you?
