Yes there were loads of them splashing around in the morning at low tide. No wonder a colony of seals has made their home there! Next time I will go armed! May even get one on a lure with my new spinning rod you recommended!

It’s 2 thirds of the way between Southampton and Yarmouth on the North coast of the IOW.

Luckily I’d had half a bottle of black rum, so I managed 3-4 hrs of uninterrupted snooze. But then wide awake. I just layed there dazed and annoyed, begging for slumber. As it was our first time in the creek, we thought we would get the lay of the land and use a bouy. Next time the anchor will be utilised. They still charge you, but half the amount. As it’s a national trust venue, we don’t mind paying a small contribution to keeping it nice!!

No fishing this weekend. But we did get away early Saturday morning and spent two days and a night on a bouy in Newtown creek. First time we have stayed on the boat and not visited a marina. It won’t be the last I can tell you. For £21 a night in the national trust anchorage, we got all this beauty. The only negative was the wavelets slapping on the hull all night. I have ear plugs on order!!

The weather seems to be ruining most of the summer as far as boating and fishing is going. A few days here and there have been doable. But like always they are weekdays, and then the winds come for the weekend.
