    This report was exciting on the first read, the second it was even better. Especially with the added photo evidence. A great catch indeed, well done! I don’t have a length to weight chart handy, so what did it weigh? Around 11lb?

    And so to conclude, holding the rod in the right and winding with the left is the correct way to do it. Any other ways are crap.

    I saw this on the PBSBAC site and I’ve just down loaded this app for free. A great app for beginners or the expert on how to tie knots . search on your App Store.

    Normal is holding the rod in your strongest arm. Which is (for me) my right arm, because I’m right handed. People that are right handed but hold in their left are the non normals!

    I’m right handed, but reel with my left hand. @GPSguru thinks only the invalids should left hand wind. But I’d argue that. My strongest arm is my right, so it’s natural to hold the rod in the right and reel with the left, after all most strength when fishing is needed in holding the rod, not turning the handle. What are your thoughts (on the thread,not me being a spaz)?

    I have a penn fathom and a squall. Both nice reels. You won’t go far wrong with either. Or look at Okuma reels. Also good quality with level wind for around that money.
