  1. You could change the gypsy and go down to 6mm chain. Will save a fair bit of weight and cash. btw, are you 100% the gypsy you have is the correct size? If your rode sticks it sounds like the gypsy is small. Have you rang the manufacturer for tech assistance?
  2. Your windlass also struggles doesn’t it. What is the problem with yours, is it the rope bunching up?
  3. I’d of thought too/to/two hard a rope will fail to pass into the anchor locker properly, causing it to/two/too jam in the opening. A softer rope will or should fall vertically quicker and easier. The basic fact is, windlass are not really designed for rope, even though they will take it.
  4. Well no but it’s still pretty strong for a thin rode. That was the point
  5. To try and make room in the anchor locker in the hope that it would fall better. The multi strand is pretty strong and has no problem holding my boat at 4 tonne.
  6. What’s the actual name of those is it just a “trip link”?
  7. My current rode is multi strand. It makes absolutely no difference and was a waste of money.
  8. Yeah I don’t have mine rigged to trip either on my current boat. I do think about doing it, however just like my glasses, I keep forgetting to take the ties with me.
  9. Ive had the same issue with all the windlass’ I’ve ever had. Although they will take rope, the rope never falls as quickly as the windlass can bring it in. Hence it backs up and jams. I have a remote control that I had fitted that hangs around my neck allowing me to go up front and control the windlass with one hand whilst helping the rope lay in the locker with the other. Most anchor lockers are just not deep enough for rope. 100% chain would be a better option for fall free jamming. Ive considered this, but the cost and the weight on the bow just put me off. that’s why the remote was a better option for me.
  10. Top dangling Steve and a cracking plaice , well done indeed. I see no sign of your new hoodie though? Did you not know it’s compulsory to wear whenever on your boat? 👍🏻
  11. Hang around a bit and you will learn about@JonCand his humour.
  12. Yeah but don’t want Luke to loose heart.
  13. Is the swim platform enclosed then? Not something I’d want to do, just incase that rogue wave catches you out
  14. Don’t exaggerate Lee, I only said I’d cup your balls!
  15. Actually @DINOBOY gave me the rod AND paid the postage. I just said £40 to make you feel better!! 👍🏻
  16. Tough luck that Adam. Hope you get it sorted ASAP. Run a thread on your progress.
  17. Great effort lads, thanks for sharing. Nice to see another youngster enjoying his fishing too!
  18. What an epic trip Tony. Sounds like you and your mate had a blast. And a bumper hound to round things off👍🏻. Just one question though, why was your mate fishing on the swim platform?
  19. Because I like to know they were alive when frozen. That way at least I know they are in tip top condition. I’ve had frozen crabs before and they were black and nasty once defrosted. Ones you freeze yourself are a better bait.
  20. What........!!!! @Tadpole using bait not plastic ? Don’t be silly.
  21. No it never is that way. I will bring on any that need it and freeze down those that don’t. I went peeler hunting last Friday and found 5 20p sized ones and that was it. Yes £75 is not cheap but it is including the 24hr delivery. I don’t have the time or the prolific area to hunt them round here.
