    Stan is going to do my lads rod re build in the new year. I’ve had some OO transfer/stickers made for the blank. Actually had 12 made, 4 each of three different colours so Leo can choose the one that will best match his design.

    Don’t you think it’s funny how we all have a “go to rod and reel” which if we are honest is probably all the rod and reel we would need for UK salt water fishing, sharking aside. But still like a bunch of magpies we have to collect the next shiny thing and hang it somewhere. Taking it out every now and again to air it and justify the purchase. I came across a couple of rods this weekend that I had forgotten all about. I tucked them back for next time.

    I’m not asking if popular, you mentioned that they were good. So I’m asking in your opinion how good? Tronix are at the lower market end so, it’s nice if a cheaper gem is about to rival say the ugly stik

    I’ve got an old life raft that is past it’s sell by date. If I can’t flog it I may break it open and see.

    But how do you use it? Do you drop it to the bottom and it drags slowly. Or do you suspend it half way down?

    So is the opinion of this spectra braid that it’s a just as good braid as the more expensive versions but for half the price?

    Christ that just looks mental. How the hell do the staff keep up with their product knowledge? I’m guessing they don’t. Well maybe on the most popular brands and models, but no way could anybody know all those specs and uses. Let along how well they individually perform.

    Ive got 8-12 and a 18-25 zziplex Uk hooks. Both real nice and punch above their weight. I also love my daiwa team tdx 20-30. Ive another uk hooks zziplex uptider. A 20-30 gx2 and a couple of others I can’t remember. Also I have three 3 piece travel rods. a shimano, a steel power and a penn squadron.

    If I’m correct, the rule is rope to be at 45 degrees when anchor is out. That what works for me.

    I have thought about that fact. But powdered salt is of a high concentration. Although sea water is salty, is it salty enough to dissolve a slug ?
