  1. Welcome @RogB. You have made the correct decision in joining up AND deciding on boat ownership. You won't regret it (your wallet may however)!!
  2. Funny how you managed to fish from 3 different boats in the same day Nick!! Nice fish though, wherever you caught them!
  3. IMHO it's better to have and not need, than need and not have!!
  4. Nice one. Your hound must have near pulled you in 🤣. Don't they just look the cutest things ever though when they are that small?
  5. Cheers Dave. What's left for you to do on the boat? You should stick up a report about the works with pics!!
  6. I had to take Leo to school for 04.45 this morning so he could catch a coach for a day trip to Boulogne sur mare with the school. So as I was up early I thought I'd catch the last of the ebb and make my way at speed (20 knots) to my chosen mark. It was a beautiful morning arrived at the mark and put rods out hoping for more stingray But ended up with around 10 smooth hound between 8-11lb. I had a new fishing buddy today, and at first he wasn't convinced by the angry intruders.. But after a couple of licks of the fish he settled into it! I saw this thing drifting up and down the Solent in the tide, I should have checked the AIS but didn't. Anybody know what boat it is?? Ended the day with a nice little bass around 2lb.
  7. What and ruin his rock god persona !!!
  8. If you squeeze the bread so it resembles a kind of cauliflower floret with the hook in the stem, then it will still float. If you squeeze all the bread it will sink. You can vary the depth of the bread by varying the strength of the squeeze. The more air and fluff you take out of the bread the more it sinks. Hope that makes sense 😜
  9. I just chuck bits of bread in the water every ten seconds or so, let the tide carry them away. But one bit is free lined with a very small hook, you need to squash the bread onto the hook though or it'll fall off in the tide. By our marina standards that one was quite small. I've seen them much bigger.
  10. Yes I make sure the iPhone is surgically attached to me now when fishing. I wouldn't want to abuse my position to try and convince people I catch fish if I don't!! All fish caught again on @JDP's recommended mini ugly stik, it really is a proper fun way of fishing!
  11. Spent the ebb free lining bread yesterday. Caught 2 bass 4lb and 1.5lb. But didn't take photos of them. Did take a photo of this nice mullet though (and a pic of the boys hanging out in the tender)!
  12. Yeah but, @mick will laugh at anything!!
  13. Like I said, they're pretty good. And very responsive to emergency actions.
  14. Why not ring Garmin technical and go through it with them? They are pretty good and know their stuff!
  15. A diagram or photo of your finished rig may be helpful to some Malc. Maybe you could photo one and give a materials list with it?
