    I have a set of these Rapala scales on board. https://www.rapala.co.uk/uk_en/25-kg-proguide-digital-scale They are compact and accurately weigh my fish heavier than the ones @Andy135 catches. So very reliable in my book!

    Not sure I can be bothered to take the lot off and then put it all back on again. It was really a question to try and avoid it for the next respool.

    Trouble is, when the line is coming off past normal length of operation, it digs in and is rather hard to come off the spool.

    But it's a self laying level wind reel. So I don't see how this can happen.

    Yes there is mono backing, and it was under a fair bit of tension when I wound it on.
