  1. The mark we fished is known for them up to 40lb, so ours were relative babies, however mine was dramatically older than Andy's ! It was nice to see both of them with their tails intact too, the commercials round here like to lop them off if caught.
  2. I never said that!! But if the cap fits...😜
  3. Thanks for the good company and plenty of giggles and fish Andy. It's great to go out on a boat and catch fish again!! πŸ‘πŸ»
  4. That sounds familiar, almost like somebody had told you that not long ago. Like , they were preached to!
  5. I'd noticed this too and couldn't figure why. I usually hold under the reel for control. Ian did actually move forward when the fish came up a bit.
  6. No danger for yew then Peat!! 😜
  7. Nice one Malc. Enjoy the holiday!
  8. That's sad. Many happy memories (hazy) of dancing to his tunes! RIP
  9. If you do enter don't follow @JonC to one of his marks, they don't provide!
  10. I also have a pair of Penn fathom 2 both are excellent reels . I've never had a problem with any Penn reel, even the real cheap models.
  11. For quality rods at a decent low price I'd go for ugly sticks.
  12. Yeah but you don't go on the water so doesn't matter .
  13. Or buy an ali one from the next new forest boat jumble.
  14. Thanks for sharing Ian, looks like a good morning out. Nice little vid too. I must say the soft cushioning sides of a rib do look a delight to lean against as opposed to the hard gunwhales of a Grp boat! Just a shame you don't have 4 berths, a kitchen, toilet and candy strip curtains!!
  15. Of you go to St.Cats then!! Go do us a recky..
  16. Only takes that one time for things to go quickly wrong though! But hey, I'm sure you know your patch well enough!
  17. Sounds perfect. You do prefer to fix rather than fish!
  18. As @JonC says, it's just one of those things. Reduce the lines in the water and suck it up. Generally if the tide isn't hard enough to hold the boat then the fish don't generally bite anyway. At least not in the Solent
  19. Towing somebody back in does kinda ruin your day. But, it's a totally necessary and selfless thing to do. Because one day it may be you in need, and we all know karma goes around. I've only ever done it once thankfully!
