Ok, I think we need a facepalm option under the "Like" menu as that's the second time today I've caught you making a "Dad" joke, and it's even worse than the first! 1/10 at best - go stand in the corner and think about what you've done... 🤦‍♂️

Hi Martin, it is great to hear that your family have a lot of pleasure with your boat as well. Back in the days when I used to zoom about in my then new 200HP petrol Fairline Carrera, I found it better NOT to keep a fuel log!!! Geoff.

Lesson to the newbies would be to first alternate fishing distances, sometimes the weed will run parallel to the beach in bands..
Tip high in the stand to change the angle of line, fish one rod with a quick clip system onto the trace, keep one baited to change in rotation.. the other benefit is that you can knock the weed down the line to the connecter, disconnect and shake the weed off in one hit rather than picking.
I only bait fish for Bass with large baits 6/7oz, casting only a short range.. doing so without a leader but decent 25lb line, not braid due to its rubbish abrasion quality, using shock leader will stop a retrieve thats less than ideal over rough ground.
Mainline directly through to a quick clip, rotating baits again.. my biggest Bass at 12lb 9oz came to this method, along with many other fish including Cod to Bass baits.
Generally weed comes and goes, pick your fishing spots wisely and you won't see any, if you go chasing fish at weedy marks you'll have to put up with it and focus more on certain tide states, more to this game than 3 hours up and down. 🤪

    Hi Geoff
Thanks for the compliment, Neil has been out on Madness in fact I think it was the trip out with me that confirmed to him he wanted to upgrade to his current boat.
The crew, the grandchildren love playing around on the boat or more correctly jumping off.  Her indoors also liking the social side of boating.  The eldest boy and I love offshore fishing so she gets well used for allsorts of water play
She has twin D3 170 hp diesels, flat out at 26 knots so not super quick but will cruise comfortably at 18/20 knots using about 40 litres per hour.
I keep a full fuel log and average consumption is about 15 lph but that includes slow plodding and drifting over wrecks with the engine running
    Martin

In the above post, by temporary means I meant anything from tape, glue gun or even holding in position. The holesaw will just run inside the template and cut the hole. Once the saw has started the cut the template could be removed if wanted. Common sense I know, but sometimes very useful.  Geoff. ☺️

it’s nice to hear about your boating history, normally your just a shady tosspot that never lets his guard down !

Not really fitted too many baxis, only one Ive done was in a cheap rental. Can’t remember the model but it was a condenser that only used a switch live, no perm live or pump overrun.
it’s worked well for the past 5 years.

I was out on Sunday blanking at St Cats Deep, and on the way I stopped at a couple of wrecks to continue refining the transducer set up on Jersey Girl. I need to tweak the angle of the Active Imaging transducer as it loses bottom over about 10 kts. But it works fine below this. Below is the Camswan again - best image clarity yet.

Conditions were pretty calm so there is minimal disruption of the image due to wave action.
I also buzzed over the Highland Brigade - below is what she looks like at 18kts. For those that don't know, she's quite a large wreck - I found it interesting that she's relegated to a relatively small blob of structure at speed (image is a function of speed/time on fishfinders) - she'd be easy to miss, so it's always worth scouting an area at slow speed to pick up the wreck/reef/feature more clearly on the finder.

Get in touch when the time comes, if you're buying a house, insist that the seller gives you a current gas safety certificate
Preferably one carried out recently, gives you an idea of the boiler condition

I was having a sort out, didn't realise I had so many.
Diane says I've got too many, so didn't tell her there were 5 more in the garage and 5 beachcasters in the shed.

Saintly Fish got a reaction from Geoff in The tramp
A Tramp goes into a bar and orders a beer.  The barman is a little concerned and asks if he can pay.  The Tramp replies "If I show you the most amazing thing you've ever seen, will you let me have a pint for free?"
The barman says, "Show me and I'll consider it."
So the Tramp reaches into his bag and pulls a hamster. The hamster run down the bar, hops onto a bar stool, then the floor and over to the piano. The hamster opens the lid and starts playing. The hamster plays Chopin, ragtime, and Gilbert and Sullivan.
The barman says, "I am impressed" and brings the Tramp a pint of best bitter.
After a while the Tramp asks for another beer. The barman says "We agreed to one beer"
So the Tramp replies "If I show you something more amazing, will you give me another beer?"
The barman says, "Okay, but you be will hard to beat the hamster". Meanwhile the hamster continues to play.
The Tramp reaches into his bag again and pulls out a frog. The frog hops down to join the hamster. The frog grabs the microphone and begins to sing along with the hamster who is still playing the piano.
The Tramp is given his second pint.
A customer at the end of the bar has been watching the performance. He walks over to the Tramp and says, "I work in the theater and I'd like to buy that frog. Will you sell the frog for £50?" The Tramp says no so the man raises it to £100. The Tramp agrees and hands over the frog.
As the man is leaving, the barman says to the Tramp "Why did you sell the frog,  it must be worth more than £100!"
The Tramp replies, "Not at all, the hamster is also a ventriloquist."
