  1. Probably not. We went out to Horse Sand Fort from Langstone. Got around 20 Mackerel in 2 hours. Not a great day but had worse.
  2. Managed to get out on the boat today and I changed the settings as per the earlier tips- wow, what a difference! Cheers chaps, the view of the bottom is incredible:
  3. Ha ha, not seen that one before 🤣. A culinary experience I'm happy to pass on.
  4. Thanks guys, I'll try it next time I'm down the ECA. Yes Andy I'm on the WhatsApp group now- just need to sort a little shoreside charging issue and I'll be out there again. Missed the Fishermans BBQ, but glad I didn't get to sample the Swedish tinned fish 🤮
  5. Quick couple of pics showing the Raider refurbished dashboard with new Simrad Fishfinder/plotter/GPS and VHF. All seems to be working well, although I don't seem to be able to display the 'shaded relief' display of the bottom in C-Map. Anyone know how to display it? I should have it as I bought the upgrade chip from Cactus with the fishfinder.
  6. Exactly my thoughts. Funnily enough Argonaut (as saintlyfish’s Raider is now called) porpoises quite badly. I’m not too worried as I’ve only been out on it three times and I’m still getting used to the boat. I have wondered whether trim tabs might help?
  7. Yep. Gotta be better than today. Blanked for the first time.
  8. Bit the bullet yesterday and bought a Simrad GO9 XSE with a C-Map Reveal chart. £200 cash back offer takes some of the sting out of it.
  9. Yep, the HDS7 does look like a step up in terms of quality but it's a very small screen. Went down to Marine Superstore at Port Solent today and had play with several units. I like the HDS Lowrance items, but actually found myself going back to the Simrad GO9 XSE unit time after time. The main reason was the two fingered iPhone like screen navigation on the Simrad items- it's so easy and everything else feels old hat and cumbersome in comparison. The quality is very good too- it's a pukka item. Same old adage- you get what you pay for, but it's made me think again. Not an easy decision.
  10. Yep, looking at either a Lowrance Ti-9 or HDS7. The latter unit looks better but I'm reading several horror stories of unreliability, and it's mighty expensive. Leaning towards the more proven Ti-9 as a result at the moment.
  11. Ok, yes got it now. Many thanks.
  12. Sorry what I mean is can I directly post a photo so that it appears as a reader scrolls down the post, or will it always appear as a file that has to be clicked on to view it?
  13. How do I post photos, I can only see how to post a file?
  14. Hi there again, Dave from Pompey here (as the username suggests!). I'm sure I just did this 12 days ago on the old site 🙂. I've just finished a four month refit on a 2003 Raider 18, and it went into the water for the first time under my ownership three weeks ago. Couple of issues to sort out- the Garmin 2010C fish finder is very tired and is being replaced over the winter. The Teleflex steering is also very worn so I'm upgrading it to hydraulic. Had 35 Mackerel last Sunday so the boat does actually catch fish!
