  1. Diesel Hybrid is the best in my opinion, as batteries get better you can go electric round town and hybrid on longer trips.

petrol hybrids are not economical enough, our 1.5 tdci c-max does more to the gallon than our hybrid yaris did.

unless every parking space has a charger how will you charge your car, especially if you live in a block of flats or terraced house .

at the moment batteries are too heavy and expensive , as they get better and cheaper then all electric might work.

I just changed a one piece wheel bearing on the trailer. It said use a press, but a f’off big socket and 3 good tw@ts with a 14lb sledge hammer = job done.
I put the new bearing in the freezer for a few hours, then gently tapped it in with a 2lb hammer and a hollow brass drift.

now that`s how you use the right size hammer😉

Mask off just a small area around the chip with the blue masking tape, and then fill the chip. 👍

white is easiest, probably followed by international orange. Other colours can be a nightmare to get right.

All our boats have been offwhite, pain in the arse ,now have XS in orange

Will this be any good for the grinding of skulls and bones etc? I get all sorts of stuff from the mongers, but cutting it all up is the ball ache.

    Anyone got an electric toilet?

My flush pump is playing up, basically it was stuck on despite me pulling the switch off… there is a short somewhere so I’ll need a rummage in the bilge to see the damage (there was quite a lot of smoke and pump kept running)….

Basically I’m looking for best supplier for spares, or wondering about ripping it out and fitting a manual version but that maybe an issue as the flush feed is via the pump that needs fixing….

Fun times ahead I’m sure… that’s if I can get a marine mechanic to call me back about getting engines serviced…. (Don’t people want business 🤔🤔)

With the amount of boats bought over the last 18mth I think mechanics are really busy (I know mine is)

as to toilet i use a bucket,(5m rib)

Hmmm, done that a couple of times.

I use CK side cutter for hooks up to 4/0 ish and small bolt cutters for hooks like 8/0 & 10/0.

CK side cutters are a premium brand so not cheap, however they last a very long time. I have one pair from when I was an apprentice (50 years ago) and still use them for electrical jobs.

IIRC 5” CK side cutters will cut a 2BA bolt.

City Electrical Factors (CEF) are stockists of CK.

Please can you tell me what size are they and what colour handle, so I can order right ones. thanks.

As said already, size of buoy will depend on mass of anchor plus chain. Needs to be able to suspend them both.

Not sure of your exact set up but the buoy I used to suspend my 5kg bruce and 6m of 8mm chain wouldn't fit through my forward hatch, so some forward planning may be required.

Had the same problem on our Explorer, used to hook ring on boat hook and pass around cuddy.

similar system here - we first thought it was the bolt that goes in the green circle - but was in fact the nut circled in red - it had come loose over time and i guess one to check every couple of months - easy fix at sea if it happens again - easy enough access and as long as i have a lookout on board holding the rudder still i could tighten up myself at sea.

It`s easy to tell the difference ,nuts are in a bag, bolts Jamaican.
