Locked out just after high water to a higher wind than forecast, was slightly choppy but nothing to worry about just made me change plan and fish local rather than aberthaw just incase it picked up! First drop on the chosen mark had a nice cod just under 12lb couple of hours later one at 8lb 2 bites all day two cod just as I was giving up hope of cardiff after a couple of bleak trips recently….can’t wait to get back out now 🎣😀

Early start this morning locking out of cardiff at 7.30 flat calm seas and headed over towards minehead first mark produced good fishing, making up from the last two poor trips congers, rays and dogs, second mark fairly much the same but luckily enough did manage a cod 11.5 lovely day to be out roll on next settled weather 😀

Locked out of cardiff 7.00 am to a more than expected forecast easterly, dropped the anchor on the coral whilst waiting for the light to appear with our intended mark of blue anchor out of the question 😩 after rocking and rolling we decided to move up to the Welsh side of e/w and flat sea my mate had a nice thornie then after a couple of hours of untouched baits moved to the English side and again baits coming untouched, headed back to penarth and waited for the flood which after an hour or so and a dog to save the blank enough was enough after it started getting shitty and locked in at around 3! Easterlies again seemed to have killed it again making me think wether to bother again when the dreaded ⬅️ Is on my forecast 🤣

Been keeping a close eye on the weather the last week and Thursday was looking an awesome day to head out, locked out at 5 to flat calm conditions, tried 3 marks all where we’ve had fish before but today was the total opposite a big fat blank for me and 1 dog for my mate, if the saying “ wind in the east, fish bite least” is a myth then today certainly wasn’t 🤣

Hard day weather wise even harder fishing, I ain’t one to judge any organisers it is what it was lol we all had the option to go to sea but personally if I was in charge I’d have pulled the plug on it yesterday but hey they do have a hard job and it is run for free labour by the organisers I can’t wait for next year hopefully more luck weather and fishing wise btw if anyone has a 9.25 Jeannau you have barnicles and weed on the underneath of your boat had a clear view of your bottom when you where next to us in the ranny 🤣

Ok thanks for the heads up odyssey, from what I can gather at the moment it will be on so just gotta pick up our fresh blacks tomorrow and hope a lump comes passed 🤞🤣

Yeah may try again Saturday myself hoping things improve lol yesterday where we where fishing on the ebb the tide was hammering through and although we where on bottom baits where untouched, anyone got any pointers on where to go on the ebb when tide is strong lol

Yeah cheers with the lack of cod at the moment and winds not looking like dying down don’t think I’ll be to disappointed if it is actually postponed 😩

Another cod less trip out of cardiff, fished the last 2 hours of the flood this evening and 4 of the ebb with just one blonde few dogs and a strap eel, whilst pulling up the blonde it was a real struggle and not knowing what it was lol until a seal appeared with a good mouth hold on the tail lol the seal stayed around with us hitting dogfish on the way up and even taking our squid nice night on the water shame about the fishing let’s hope the wind and fishing improves for Sunday
