  1. It will probably be just me and probably dinner. I like most stuff but really like Spanish tapas, but English is good too. Saturday will probably be pub or fast food so I wanted something else on Sunday. Many thanks.
  2. My trip to pompey is this weekend and as I have not been there in nearly 40 years I have been looking for eateries in the general area. OK I know some will slate the place but I have looked online and it's a nightmare, I would prefer somewhere other than a five guys, TGI, waga or similar for lunch or dinner on Sunday. If its dinner then I could go to Southampton as I fly back in the evening. Any recommendations?
  3. All returned, I decided to return all cod this year unless they are deep hooked or blown etc after seeing the stats for them. Not pontificating just my preference.
  4. Got out Sunday instead of Saturday on my friends' boat out of the Tyne. Overcast and pretty much flat we had a few inshore wrecks in mind and settled for one that is easily spotted on the sounder. Second drift got us right over her and I had a nice plump codling of about 2lb on the drop I thought it was bigger but the drift was 1.7 kn and with its mouth wide it was a bit of a drogue. Few more drifts, some on, some off I managed another a little bigger and one for my friend. Because the drifts were fast, the fish tight to the wreck and because the wreck was lying 90' to the drift we upped sticks and drifted a reef that would give us plenty of time and opportunity for fish, however there weren't many but we did get another 3 or 4. On the way back we wanted to fish a wreck that produced a good few fish a couple of weeks ago and found a boat anchored over it, but as we were passing they picked up and moved on. 3 drifts but nothing. Great to be out and catching a few, all returned to get bigger so that we can catch them again. Sorry for the lack of pictures but you know what a Codling looks like and I was having too much fun 😁
  5. Nearest one is in the Irish sea (well off the headland in the picture)and we will be fishing the Luce Bay area tides seem to be quite sluggish towards Sandhead and Glenluce but more flow near Drummore. It is not a big deal and it is probably just my way of thinking as a kayak fisherman but we will be on my friends boat so tides shouldn't be such a big thing. Many thanks for the replies!
  6. It was a friend on Facebook, he has a thing about Bombay bad boys. I hope that is a pot noodle flavour and not something else 😳
  7. Think I have got there. I am using the online navi Web app not the actual app as I found a box with a C in but miles away. However there was a box with a T in it and when I clicked, like you do on the wrecks, the box comes up but doesn't give me weather or tide strength info etc but did give the present tide height and says it is only available on the app.
  8. I think it is a constant as I have seen it before, I was using navi Web app on my phone.
  9. I'm just getting my head together for a trip this summer and looking on tides 4 fishing it gives all the blurb, high and low times and heights but also gives coefficient of 79-83 for the day. Looking on navionics there is an arrow and it says "SP 3KN" I presume spring tide will be around 3kn and using the coefficient gives 2.4 ish for that day. Is that correct or have I missed something? Most of the time I only need the tide times in my area but this is way out west and I don't want to make a pratt of myself. Many thanks
  10. Lovely fish and big smiles, what's not to like?
  11. Yeah lures here too, unless the water is dirty and then it's baited muppets
  12. Just got a phone call from my friends and it's looking good for Saturday 😃🎣
  13. Thanks for sharing and hope you get well soon!
  14. Burger! Just bought some gear a week ago 😖
  15. Deserves his peace and quiet...until next season
  16. Awesome! Well done those guys
  17. I was thinking of more conventional fishing and recreation boats. The ones we saw must have been electric. I just searched and you can have e-surfboard/foil DOODAHS but I would imagine that the guys in the Tyne would have been keeping a keen eye out for large submerged pieces of driftwood! You can get a decent second hand boat for that price 😳
  18. ...also saw two people in the middle of the Tyne on boards propelled in a similar way. Absolute twonks, wetsuits and no PFDs in March and the middle of the shipping lane!
  19. Saw that on the box, I wonder if you could do the same with conventional fuelled boats and absolutely trash the distances involved?
  20. Nicely done, I wouldn't have had a clue what the record weight was!
  21. Much like mine when I was culling, young roe that were too small for the game dealer were mine as well as the liver and kidneys. I think more people would eat offal if they tried deer liver etc unless it's a stag during the rut 🤢
  22. Yup, same here and I'll raise you a few pea fowl. My fast n furious spaniel caught the tail feathers of one and was airborne for a half second before the feathers pulled out. Guinea are lovely to eat, but given a year or many dodging the best pegging dogs going even mincing the flesh may not work, we tried cooking gently at a low temperature for 2 hours... tastes like sisal rope!
