  1. Looking good all round the country for fishing this weekend, tight lines if you get out 👍
  2. It does look a bit thin though, I'm hoping for a good late summer with plenty of calm weather and I can bag up 🤞
  3. A day out is a day out, fish are a bonus. I love herring and would have eaten it 😋
  4. Plaice should be moving in soon, normally we don't try for them but due to the species competition we will target them with a chance of flounder and dab as well. Tight lines everyone!
  5. Very early kick off as the weather was due to kick up mid morning, which it did. Not much happening and I think that the amount of fresh water is pushing fish offshore but I managed a pout for the species comp and a whiting that was very thin by changing from bigger baits to scratching gear. Looking forward to warmer weather and fish moving in to feed, but that's a month off I think, however we did see some gulls taking something on the surface where the pier kicks up the tidal race so hopeful that there will be early bait fish for the predators.
  6. Nice one, good to see different species too 👍
  7. Happy birthday 🎂 🎣
  8. Hellova grim yesterday Truthfully it's a bit drizzly ATM but we have coddies 🎣
  9. Tyneside, not big, bout 1 1/2lb None for me but my pal had another that was very sizeable, but was quickly returned as we he already caught one and ticked the box, apologies for not capturing its loveliness
  10. Come on up to the grim North then!
  11. Slow but we managed a few more fish to the species comp, my mate had a doggie and a codling and I managed a small haddock. Beautiful day out and we were watching dolphin getting frisky with each other on the way back. Another 4 weeks and fishing should liven up but good to see fresh spring run codling and decent whiting come aboard. Little doggie for lovers of the K9s
  12. Already have a dog on the score board, along with whiting. We have a species competition hence some of my questions recently. So it's Cod goggles off and see what is there that people don't try for.
  13. I was working in a bar and a woman asked me for a double entendre, so I gave her one!

Similar to the boats lying around Southampton, we had a we jolly down there recently and there was a fair number of big boats, but it makes you think about the amount of boats that never seem to leave their moorings and the cost of just the moorings never mind the boats themselves!
  15. That makes things more simple for me as worm here can be very variable in quality. I hope Aldi king prawns are acceptable too
  16. Cheers, most of the ones here are from a pier and at distance so little bling but they can run to 3-4 lbs. Which would be nice!
  17. I used to catch them regularly from a pier in a West Country creek, I was after fluke which were the staple there and used an ABU rauto spoon with rag on sunny summer days on the early flood. From the boat or kayak I'm not sure how I would tackle them, spoons, bling, spreaders, rag, lug, tips of mackerel or squid? What's your go to for spotties as I need to seriously scratch an itch as it's been 40 years since the last one I think 🤔
  18. Fell between toilet and bulkhead?
  19. I asked for that... Looking forward to perhaps, but judging by your photo it better be a salad!
  20. From about now until May the fishing is pretty poor so thoughts are on what the rest of the year will be like. We are in a species hunt based from the marina so the easy stuff will be cod, pollock coalfish, ling, the usual flats, doggies and pout and SSSS along with the summer visitors of mackerel, herring and the sandeel. Getting rockling, LSSS and gobies should be doable but we will have to change tactics dramatically and might be able to get eelpout and further out we will have to really try hard for turbo, TBR, Gurnard and others that tend not to get caught up here often. In the river and the sand areas we might even get a bass or possibly sea trout. All in all things are looking up and hopefully the doldrums will pass quickly! What are you looking forward to?
  21. They are one of the reasons I didn't like the west coast, little, as in ounces, gits nabbing your bait in deep water. However I don't think that they would have a chance with that size bait
