  1. One of the local beaches, Seaham, is famous (?) for its sea glass as they used to tip the waste over the cliffs onto the beach! However it has been rolled about by the north sea for 100 years or more so less likely to rip your feet apart, but the colours are amazing, cobalt blues, reds, multi colours, milk glass, and UV.

I like them either fried or baked in foil with lemon.
  3. It's been horrendous for fishing from boat and kayak and eventually the shore delights of whiting and dab fades, but as we are near the sea we get to wander the tide lines. My wife collects glass and I pick up lost line etc to bin but with occasional benefits of beads and line clips and even a multi one time and a diawa rod. I sometimes pick up interesting bits of driftwood including my fireplace beam. Yesterday we met up with family, the tiddler has measles, and in amongst the wood and weed we found a big crumpled sheet of metal and were just about to pick it up and bin it when I realised it was copper! It was too big for my boot so my daughters fiance took it in his to his works unit nearby and it will go off to the scrap dealer soon. However it occurred to me as we were driving off that the top was ripped off the lighthouse at the end of the pier in late October, could it be a part of it? However I checked and it was painted red and white and the copper was bare, so we will get a few bob for it 👍

Mmmm, herring my favourite eating fish. Thanks for sharing your trip out.
  5. Fin nor offshore FS are great reels, yes a bit clunky but extremely robust and a top notch drag.
  6. Here we go again. I think that it's time I got the decals done for my kayak and wondered what tips you had or where to get them from, I have had a quick look and Funky Monkey was one of the first and seems simple to use. I will be putting it onto HDPE which is smooth and slightly curved.
  7. Welcome back, sad to hear about the theft! Looks like you have done some homework on the tackle front I presume you will be going out on charters? I wouldn't use the rods I like to use on my friend's boat or my kayak on a charter as they are lightweight and may get in other people's way when playing a fish and my preferred method (soft plastic lures)
  8. Well done, great report and a bit food photography to top it off 👍
  9. That's why I'll get the smaller plants and plant and trim them myself
  10. Where did you get them from, I'm looking at different suppliers and some people give rave reviews others not so, mainly to do with dried out plants and poor after sales.
  11. I am looking to put in a hedge for privacy in a small section of our garden that borders the roadway to give us more space, 9-10m in length and approximately 1.5-1.75m height and not too thick, say 50cm. So far I have looked at privet and Cherry Laurel as they say they are fairly quick growing 30-60cm/year so probably 20cm in reality. As there is a small retaining wall, knee height, I don't want something that will damage the wall or the foundations/path. I am thinking of getting root ball rather than bare rooted and 1-1.25m height. Has anyone any experience of putting in a hedge or does landscape gardening or enjoys gardening as a hobby? We have box to the front of the house with privet and that easily kept but apart from clipping it I know nowt. Cheers in advance 👍
  12. Yes, 16ft revolution. I saw some of the cats when I went down to Poole to pick mine up and I could get a sail for mine but the amount of time I could use it would not make it cost effective, they also do a trimaran called the adventure island with a similar hull to mine which can be peddled and sailed.
  13. It's on a special system, you launch from the beach with it "stowed" and using a conventional paddle until you are in deep enough water to drop the drive into place, but just before you pull the rigging line that pulls it off the deck and twists round into place. If you hit a line or shallow water it will move backwards against a tensioning line. It's called twist and stow by Hobie. I've not tried it yet but they also give finer control rather than having to steer on a regular basis.
  14. Among other things I had to do today I fitted my new rudder. A friend pointed out that on big following seas it was coming out and I was getting pushed down and across the face of the swell and in danger of broaching, its the same for kayaks without rudders but they can steer by bracing with the paddle but I have peddles and fins. Its quite a lot bigger...
  15. Belated new year greetings one and all.
  16. Well done, we are giving our marina species comp a try this year but won't get as many as you guys will but it will be fun. Great prize bag there too!
  17. Didn't get them done as I helped my mate down the marina drain his fuel tank and then set traps round the shed as Roland has been digging holes, then checked out a recently fallen tree but after packing all the chainsaw gear in the car finding the tree was rotten and that was just about sunset. Nothing in the traps this morning but that's the norm.
  18. Picked the wrong day to shuck mussels, pigging freezing! They better catch some decent fish!

I have the same, however I found that they marked where rocked in the rod tubes badly but a few wraps of black sparkies tape sorted it.

It's the lid for my paella pan (got a new one as well) the Spanish seem to think that they are the bomb. Its a lid and stops the top drying out, get over yourselves 😆

I can thoroughly recommend Muck boots, used mine for shooting, walking dogs, beating and although they eventually die they are extremely tough yet comfortable
