Malc got a reaction from Saintly Fish in Trolling lures?
You could try them on drifts by casting them downtide as far as possible and winding hard. I have some similar and they hammer down faster than you might think. A friend used them over rough ground for pollock to good effect, I've only tried the once...nadaย

Malc got a reaction from Andy135 in New season's resolutions?
I empathise, there are a few about and hopefully in May or June they will have recovered from spawning and packed on some weight.ย
A friend has also reminded me that we are also going to see if we can get a Northumbrian LSD ๐

Plaice and a few other flats, double figure cod and pollock from the kayak, and a tope but not from the kayak. I have seen my friend's video of trying to land a 40lb fish and he came out second best but fortunately no claret.

If they do, he/she must be blind with the amount of spelling errors and omissions that keep on getting published every month.

Nothing has changed there then, they get all sorts of things wrong do they have a proof reader?

Malc reacted to JDP in Come on then... who's out at the weekend?
No but they look just like the 10kg haul she caught before this one, a prawn is a prawn, unless they are those alien ones they get in South Africa (District 9).

Too lumpy here, but the positive I take from that is; the rugby is on and the pub is ten minutes away ๐๐๐ป

Just came across the forum whilst researching for a trip to the skerries in April.
Great forum with some with very helpful posts, hopefully I can have something to offer when the weather improves!

Malc got a reaction from Andy135 in Groundbaiting
Yes, should have said! I use it separately from the fishing rod due to lack of hands etc when on the yak. The cod enjoyed mouthing the lead weight I think and a couple of times the camera was nibbled by fish, you should be able to see my lure(s) in a few of the shots including a missed take from a small codling.

Here you go, apologies for the camera movement and lack of slick editing ๐

Second one I should have put the lures down first! I am hoping to make a rig to stop the camera swinging around to lessen the seasickness ๐คฃ the camera is 8' or so above the lead weight and generally I kept the lead about a foot above the reef.
Last time I used it I found that I had a dead pixel(s) which is annoying but I will keep it going for the foreseeable as I get a lot of information from them like wrasse and ling just watching it go by and little bits like how many urchins are in some areas and I often wonder how on earth I don't get snagged up more.

Malc got a reaction from suzook12 in Recent past catches
I`m bored as I am awaiting the kitchen being fitted so I`m going to see if I can post up some recent catches (past 4-5 years) for those who like to see a few fish.
I`ll get some new ones hopefully when the hurricane season passes ๐
First up a smallish wrasse to a cheb rigged creature
and on a sidewinder minnow
Yay, it worked!
Afew of those things you guys call unicorns I believe...
Sometimes two at a time
Sometimes funny coloured kelp codling
Pot bellied pigs
Not a cod, and apologies for the rubbish pic but ia lunker like that wasn`t staying in the water to be photographed, too many seals around....
Oddities...
Is it a gremlin?
Nope a SSSS
And a wrestling match to unhook and I had 3 from 3 different drifts that day!
Hope it floats ya boat.

Cheers and fortunately Iโm 150 yards away from the dry stack and itโs all downhill so I can afford a little bit more slipping before I need to worry! ๐

Some bronze slabs
Caught in mid May when the water was full of sandeel, joeys and guillemots, 40ft of water 200m out
Achtung, dive, dive, dive!
Come to daddy ๐
