Amazing day out of Yarmouth, an early start but well worth it. My pb 54cm !! 

I got a lovely invitation to go out with my friends tomorrow as the weather is calming down and hopefully we will be using soft plastic lures for the first time this year, I might even be out Tuesday to Thursday on the kayak too, and as I am economically inactive that's classed as a weekend too.

PROPer job 🙂 back on the water…. Wish this rain would bugger off… whole of the haven is starting to look like Cardiff coloured water there is so much run off 🫣

Don't forget the positives of exercise 💪 

Wind stopped play this weekend so I thought i would brave the "big beach of broken dreams" on Friday evening and i wasn't disappointed - dreams were broken - No double figure blondes, no Smoothies, no Bass in the gutter -  Just a stiff cold breeze, a mountain of shingle to climb over only to be rewarded with a Spider crab and single Dogfish - before the lung busting hike back over the bank.
fishing the flood from 6pm to 9pm - one rod was a 2 hook flapper baited with Squid, the other was a pulley pennel with big mackerel bait. 
I also did a bit of lure fishing and tried for squid at dusk. No Joy.
Really cold, too windy to see any bites, hardly anyone else there. at least the wind was off my back - helped with my rusty casting skills!
after only one baby spider crab I was feeling defeated - at 8.30pm I started reeling in the small rod to pack up and noticed the big one had gone slack, i tightened it up again only for it to go slack - so i left it while i packed away the other rod. 
when i came to reel the big one in, it was heavier - another spider i thought - to my surprise a doggie came through the surf, 



blank avoided - but only just!
 

Well….the weather played ball but the Bream marks were stuffed with Bass 

My windlass is mounted on starboard side on deck but suffers same issue…. It sticks to windless and doesn’t fall nicely so I have to hand feed it into the locker.

Be sure to put it in a cloth bag first though and do up the end. 
Or soak it in a bath over night with a bottle of fabric softener poured in. 

My windlass does exactly the same thing. Think it's more to do with the weight of the rode and the depth of the locker. If the rode is lightweight it doesn't fall too good, and if the locker is quite shallow then the rode has no depth to fall properly so backs up. I have to go upfront when I retrieve too, but with a remove around my neck it's easy. 
ps, every windless I've ever had has done the same regardless of rope type of size etc

3 blade bronze 19" prop, was given to me by a friend who found it while diving off the south coast somewhere

take the rope of mate and take it home a put it in the washing machine for a couple of cycles that will soften  it up a bit just make sure the mrs is out shopping lol

Yes I read similar, I ran new slightly oversize cables
I think it's down to the fact that it was a 30 quid horn

No play mate, so that'll be next year's job now 👍
