  1. It ain't a lever drag but I trialled one of these when Tope fishing last year - found it to be very 'useable' when married with my Daiwa Super Kenzaki (7'6"Fixed Spool rod) - in fact I think I prefer it to my Shimano Charter Special setup - better/finer control of the amount of resistance applied when in free spool - found it really good and easy to set when drifting over smooth ground

  2. Hi Geoff - I moor my boat in Scotland also (tried wales a couple of years ago) but the fishing is much better in SW Scotland (IMO) so that's where I'll be all this Summer - chasing the Tope!!

  3. Hi All, just joined up - looking forward to reading the posts and asking for advice. I own a small Shetland 498 currently moored in SW Scotland. Been an angler all my life mainly sea fishing and fly fishing for trout. Owned my boat for 5 years now (since taking early retirement) try to get out for about 6 sessions each month during the season (May to September), I've been targeting Tope for the last couple of years with moderate success and now really looking forward to the better weather hoping to launch again early April to stock up with mackies for bait ready to catch a few more Tope and Hounds. Take Care and tightlines.
