  1. J-braid x8 or Spiderwire Stealth x8 are my go to but in lower diameter than 50lb. This is fine for all my general downtide work and 35lb/0.15mm for drifting wrecks and reefs with lures. Always add an 80lb mono rubbing leader for that though.
  2. I have got a Blue Badge and have to use RH reels because my right arm isn’t strong enough to hold the rod. Not sure if that’s helping but that’s how I roll,,, or should that be reel? 😉
  3. Really good day out, Matt put us on the fish and we had cod, pollock and the ubiquitous pouting 😉
  4. Really well though I don’t have much experience of other boats of this size. It use her all year round and trips to the Eddystone and “out, out” trips to 20 miles + for blues have been fine.
  5. Thanks, she's my first "proper" boat and I'm amazed how well she travels. Sits really nicely in the water and is a fabulous fishing platform.
  6. Thanks both. I tried a spiral wrapped rods aboard Silver Halo on Wednesday and while it think it helped a bit, I was still getting problems. You comments about good jigging technique seems to be spot on,,, so something for me to work on. Just need these annoying easterlies to stop again and I'll be able to work on this 🤞
  7. I want to get a “proper” SPJ rod and I really like the idea of the spiral guide train as I’m forever getting the line wrapped around the tip with conventionally rigged guides. What are your thoughts? Thanks
  8. Thanks for adding me. I’m a recent convert to SPJ having tried it for the first time in the autumn last year on my own boat and I’m now getting obsessed. Looking forward to learning even more this year. 🛥️🎣🐟👍
