I would cut two foot off and make an uptider.
Make sure if you do that you cut the thick end otherwise it might be a bit stiff, like @captin slows old outlaw’s scratching rod.but it works.😃

While you can certainly buy a folding anchor, if its wanting to hold at anchor in any wind, tide or chop, forget the folding ones. But hey its your money!!!!
he will be on a small river. with mud and sand. the only waves he will see, will be the wake of boats going by.

According to the internet...
"the 4 long plastic strips are for you to tape the knot after you have tied the line onto the spool. It get the knot out of the way so it doesn't get cough during casting if you get that far. It also provide a anchor point for braids if you don't use backing. I would still use mono line backing so prevent braid cutting into the spool. Also save the amount of braid line wasted since you'll never go that far down into your line."

But if he's set up right it's the company that pays the bills not him personally and it's all tax deductible.
With a constant stream of days afloat each year at £6-700 per day, he will make a pretty penny.you forgot about the bad weather, where you cant get out

Pool trip out.
i was taken to Pool and we booked in the hotel, then we all walked around the key. then we found the pub we met up last year.
while we were there Jon and friend arrived. we tried the brew , the conversation evolved around yellow balls (scooch eggs ).
then went looking for a place to eat. We found a nice restaurant and sat down.then Suzuki and Mikey, and the banter continued .
Neils ribs were cold , and the head waiter was apologizing, again and again. my stake was fine.
we then all went back to the hotel for a fine all round. being a bit tipsy i slept well.
Breakfast .
The plates were a bit small but some of us went for round 2.
We parked up and waited to get on the boat.
When leaving the harbor Neal made a announcement about my birthday and presented me a new place rod and real; i was a bit lost for wards and replied thank you.
nobody blanked ,with the weather being overcast and a bit windy and cold , but cheered up with some sunny intervals.
all in all i had a fantastic knight and day .which will stay with me for ever.
Thank you for making my 70th birthday very special
